Okay then, instead of wiring the program module (former datapad) directly into the manipulator, adapt the user interface (or is that off-limits as well?) to accept the input from the program module as a method of entering commands. As in, port it into the computer that serves as the UI.
((The rest of my post still stands, right? Also, is the FM computer sophisticated or powerful?))
(you don't really know anything about the manipulator's specifications so I can't tell you)
It looks like the entire manipulator schematic is locked off in tinker. Odd. Guess if you're going to do play with it you're going to have to do it in real life.
"Well, if I cannot repair it, I must replace it."
Head to the Armory and requisition another couch. If they're not in stock, the parts to make one. If that's not in stock either, get some wood and tools to build one from scratch.
((I'll head to tinker soon too, failing mission start with me in it.))
You head to the armory and ask the armory master for a new couch because a robot man broke the old one with his butt.
"Alright." The armory master says without looking up from her book, "I'll have them bring a new one in with the cooking appliances."
(( Good job ive been working out ways to make this possible for the last 30 minutes and got some of it down. ))
Types in new parameters for the sentry turret
"1 Upgraded laser rifle for increased damage and range. The upgrades i designed for my own rifle should suffice if possible with a far larger battery or multiple battery's attached that it will cycle through so the rifle can fire for longer for a longer period without needing a fresh battery.
A simple design of rotating on a plane with servos to articulate the gun on a platform.
A radar operated guiding system with a visual scanner integrated.
Also on the targeting system i would like to input the electronic signature of our suits ( There systems would give off a specific signature and theoretically i could program the sentry to register that signature as friendly so it will not fire on it )
I also want voice command but not for targeting specifically but rather so i can order it to fire at will or cease fire or order it to give suppression fire on a general area rather then a specific target
Plus the direct up link into my HUD."
Also begin work on an adaptable battery to power the sentry's systems that has multiple port's to enable it to be plugged into various electrical source's for a recharge
(( This all makes sense in my head. If it dosnt to you GM then PM me and ill try to explain it in more detail. Im hoping i can convince the AM or Steve to let me make a free prototype of this since it is a system that the AM does not have. ))
Alright that all works in general, though You'll still need to work out some details and it's still massively expensive.
Now, with that battery, how powerful do you want it to be? We used the TPU power unit around here, and the laser rifle's battery is considered to be 4 tpu per second with 30 seconds worth of fire so 120 tpu over all. So if your battery produces, say, 1 tpu a second then it would take 2 minutes to recharge (this is kinda moot since laser rifle batteries can't be recharged, but you get the idea)
"Ok, so maybe the needle glove wasn't the greatest idea. Perhaps a needle gun..."
Close Tinker, receive message.
"Huh? Sure, I can do computer stuff and math. What do you need help with?"
Help him.
You link into timmy's tinker simulation using another vr.
Fire both plasma projecters at beast thing.
"I HAVE FACED STRONGER THAN YOU!!"
[con:6+1]
[con:1+1]
One of the shots pulls wide, the ball of plasma hovering off into the distance, but the other catches the beast in the knee midstride and sends it collapsing to the ground as the plasma burrows through flesh and bone with equal ease. The shockwave from it's landing hurls a wave of mud, debris and still living altered across the battlefield and into the trench, reigniting the close quarters combat you just ended.
"Well, you see, Mesk, you have a chance to be a part of history here. I'm making a field manipulator powered grabby crane thing that you control with a joystick, sort of like a claw machine. Problem is, damn magic impenetrable manipulator thing runs on math I couldn't do to save my life. So the thing is, I need a program to control it - essentially, you're gonna have to make a program that does several things according to what you do with the joystick. One, it has to make the claw move horizontally. Two, make it move vertically. Three, make it open and close. First one is done with the stick and there are specific buttons for the other two things. I'm ready to split any and all tokens I get from this thing 50/50 with you, considering that you're doing a very crucial bit of the work. I'll even consider your input on the name of the thing. Take a look at this design I got, I call it the Superclaw, and get back to me when you've got something, alright?"
Make my design viewable by Mesk under the name "Timmy-Tec Superclaw (hopefully powered by MeskSoft!)".
You make your design, what little there really is considering you can't modify the manipulator, available to mesk.

((Maybe you could use a system where you use a 'laser pointer' to assign targets, after wich the sentry will fire on the object you aimed the pointer at. Would only work if you're in the same area as the turret, though.))
'First off all, I should try to find a way to use my manipulators without using my hands, seeing as how entire limbs tend to go explore the galaxy on their own on these missions.'
Open tinker, spawn 1 of each manipulator, examine them. What are their dimensions, how are they operated, what is their power source and what do they have in common? Also examine power unit in detail, compare them between manipulators.
You spawn a row of manipulators. They all look almost identical, just unassuming wrist mounted computer looking things maybe 5 inches long with a display and a keypad. It looks to be controlled via the keypad and thats about all you can figure out. Each and every one is locked against modification or examination.
