Thomas heads to the stasis pod, looking for one near the center.

Neil, with his hand lasers on his hands, runs to the stasis pods of whatever team he's on. He gets onto a one near the border of the craft.

Just as planned.
Eh, Steve, I have heard that sometimes you find time to judge worthiness of tinker results, and those which you approve of end up in the armory lists... but I suppose I don't have time to persuade you of the usefulness of my tinkering results, right? So, as the survival chances are low, as usual, could you please take a look at my research results sometime when you're relatively not busy? I, lowly tinkerer, have the arrogance to say some of those might aid the UWM in the war efforts. Let that be my last will.

Check the price and the weight of the gauss autogun (powered by a single gauss cannon generator together with the gauss rifle's capacitor bank). See to it that the fire options of the single fire, 4-round burst and autofire are there, together with the standart option of the overcharge shot and the option to apply a few times the standart (for the autogun - which is 1/4th of the gauss rifle's) amount of power (specificly, 4x and 8x).
Okay, I'm going to take the autogun's prototype with me on the mission. Could you assemble it for me, Nick? Here are the schematics, you'll probably find those useful. I'll fetch the materials in a moment.

Ok, here's something important. Normally in the simulations everyone rolls 5's. Would you like the dummy to roll 5's still?

Hm. 5's would most likely mean the intended function of the Crystalline Projector would not occur. So let's have the dummy roll 1's, and be unable to move.

The stasis pods on on the main ship this time. You're not going in on a shuttle, you're going in on a stripped down metal skeleton with high end thrusters. We're just sleeping till the main ship gets to the planet.

"Alright then, but can someone please explain what just happened and why?" Feyri said as she sat up, removing the electrodes and making sure that her clothes were donned.
No one answers as you get dressed. Jerks.

Just as planned.

I can tell you it's gonna be out of your price range, one gauss cannon generator is 4 tokens remember? You've only got 5. You could always just ask the armory master if she's got anything on hand that fits the bill of what you're looking for though.

Actually the function would still happen, but it changes depending on what the dummy rolls. With a 1 he would basically just die as though you shot him.

Use the standart gauss rifle charging circuit instead, then.
Check the weapon's price and weight (together with those options added) as well as those of the standart and triple capacity magazines.
Leave the VR and head for the armory.

((By the way, what are the range modifiers of my weapon? Just the same as those of the gauss rifle, or what?
Oh, and just to make sure: Steve did hear my humble request, didn't he?))

Jim shrugged. "I had thought that was the case myself when I attempted to access some of the other cameras on this platform and got a message that they were already in use. That's why I warned all of you to turn your communications off. Also, I'd like to apologize, Mesk." His head turned slightly to look at the medic. "While at least part of my motivation for hurting you was an alien influence that for some reason really, really didn't like you, I still made the decision to drop you down the elevator shaft. Luckily it looks as though you will recover."

He looked to Bishop. "I probably should have told you about the cameras and the alien influence earlier, but I didn't want to be shut down. It... is not pleasant. It is like a stasis where one is unable to move or sense the outside world at all, only able to think and wait for the recycled oxygen to run out and the brain to die. A nonexistence that can, frankly, drive one quite mad..." He stopped leaning on the wall. "I'm going to go look for Feyri. You three should rest up and heal, take it easy while you can. We'll be thrown out there again soon enough."

With that, he suited action to word and went to look for her.

Nik, I need parts and schematics, and the parts are provided by Steve. No parts, no prototype.

Go to the stasis area and find the poor schmuck I got to test my prototype, if they're already in stasis, stick the prototype in their storage, if they're there, hand it to them, if they aren't there, wait for them. Wait for Nik to arrive and take a pod next to him.

Ok. Let's do 2's, and then repeat it with 5's.

At 2 he just dies, but at 5 something interesting happens. The spot on his hand where you stabbed him changes, his flesh becoming like the crystal. the effect slowly spreads all the way down to his elbow before stopping.

((Well, actually, up to this point I was still unsure whether those 4 tokens were for a single power generator, or the whole charging circuit, together with the four of them and the capacior bank; that statement of yours was a bit ambious. ((By the way, what are the range modifiers of my weapon? Just the same as those of the gauss rifle, or what?
Oh, and just to make sure: Steve did hear my humble request, didn't he?))
So basically you want a standard gauss rifle, but with a smaller caliber and more bullets? With only one generator it's only gonna fire once every 1/3 of a second, which isn't exactly full auto, but there you go. For something like that it would be the cost of a standard rifle, plus 1 for the new barrel, 1 for the new firing system to handle the rounds and 1 for say a 40 round clip (1/4 sized bullets, 4X the amount.) Weight and just about everything else will be the same as a standard gauss rifle, though since you have smaller rounds with similar force you're gonna have lowered overall effectiveness. It will still get through standard MK I suits and all though.

And yeah, he heard you but you'll have to handle that when you get back. You'd need to make a prototype and test it before he considers accepting it.

((@GM: ...What if the plates are used to form a high collar around the head? I don't know if the chestplate covers my neck, but a high collar extending to the back of my head and covering up to the sides and front of the helmet up to half the visor could be useful and not damage the helmet.))
Well...that would mean covering a heck of a lot more area then if it were just on your head. Ie it would cost more or spread out and be less protective. Plus you'd look like the king of all popped collars.

Jim shrugged. "I had thought that was the case myself when I attempted to access some of the other cameras on this platform and got a message that they were already in use.
