Bishop nods, understanding the problem. Shattering would cut down on plate durability but provide better protection against kinetic force than a more inflexible plate.

"I suppose that if I want more durability, I can always just add another layer or two in the armor plates. Thanks Steve. Any advice for making a helmet shape that helps deflect force?"

Ask Steve then bring up a plate of Battlesuit armor that's 1.5 inches thick and a plate of the same stuff from the battlesuit and compare thickness. Test on my 1.5 plate to see how much force it can take without completely shattering, as well as how much heat it can take.

Also, nice one, Prosperus. It's almost like the GM is telling us that willing projects of Der Doktor's get supremely overpowered stuff for no cost, whatsoever. Except maybe some bits of brain that haven't seemed to affect anything for Travis. Sure, you'll never be one for chatting with civvies, but that has come into play in exactly one mission, the current one. Just plain charisma, speech, whatever has come into play exactly twice: Once in the second mission with that former HMRC member, and the current mission.))

((Yeah, it looks like fun time for the next mission :D (although I probably have to skip the next one due to holidays). However, I haven't heard the doctor's price yet. I sort of expect it to be something that should balance the benefits out)).

((I'm not sure if anything else the Der Doktor did could really balance out having a very tough body, obscene weaponry, an aiming system that cannot miss (even if it needs time to recharge), special equipment that hasn't even been told to you yet, and quite frankly, everything that you will ever need to survive the HMRC.

I went through a much more complicated process to make a blade that pops out of Simus' arm, and she paid 4/5 of her tokens on it. You got all of that for free, essentially. Sure, it was custom equipment defined by me, but PW has given you custom equipment defined to fit neatly into how your character will fight. Any penalties like to med, aux, and workmanship will be irrelevant to you, the other players do those, and can do them for you. The only real things PW can slap you with is being physically slow, fairly low dex, perhaps low will, and maybe some other stuff, but compared to the advantages, it will be fairly minor to you.

There may be no such thing as a free lunch, but PW has given you a banquet for pennies, so it seems.

I know that probably sounds a bit whiny, but what can really be done to offset your massive advantage that was just given to you?

Oh, and the spill got through the 30cm of concrete... and 90cm of ground beneath.))

Computer Query: How much will the launcher cost, as well as additional incendiary shells?
(Gravel ain't battle suit plate and you ain't firing tanker trucks :P)

>Launcher is gonna be...oh, I'd guess 3 tokens. About as much as a normal gauss rifle, but a bit more because of the size. Those shells, figure 3 per token.

((You underestimate the power of the dark side cryptic open-ended contract. He could start reprogramming their personalities at will for all we know. Or decide they've served their purpose and transfer them to a paperweight. Or fuse them together into one deranged wetwork-controlled abomination against man and god.))

Faith's eyes went wide as saucers.

"Wh- The Doctor?!" she sputtered incredulously. "He was actually a combat guy? I thought he was just a medical specialist!"

She spent a few more seconds staring at the floor, brow furrowed, trying to imagine just what The Doctor would be like in battle.

"Uh, thanks," she said, snapping back to reality. "I'll, uh... oh yeah, one other thing. Is there an advantage to having multiple kinetic amplifiers? I know Erik had at least four..."

Ask AM about the benefits of multiple kinetic amplifiers versus just one. Then find the Doctor and incredulously ask if he was really a soldier. If so, inquire about kinetic shockwaves.
The armory master leans forward, resting her elbows on the counter. She's still wearing that peculiar smile.

"He was here when I first woke up, and a long time before that if what I've heard is any indication. Mind yourself, half the horror stories I've heard about him don't involve his medicine."

You ask your question about the amplifiers.

"More surface area, generally. Means you can hit without having  to worry about hitting in exactly the right spot where the thing is set. Erik had one on each limb so he could do powerful blows with any limb, rather then just one."

You head off to the Infirmary and look around. No sign of the doctor. You sit on one of the beds. Maybe He'll be back soon.

Label suit with info from manual. Head back into VR, test sniper crossbow with kinetic amp tip and explosive tip against mk3, battlesuit, avatar of war, and an arbiter.
You scratch "DO NOT TOUCH" next to the decapitation button on your suit.

As in two different arrows or an arrow with both an amp and an explosive?

Bishop nods, understanding the problem. Shattering would cut down on plate durability but provide better protection against kinetic force than a more inflexible plate.

Lukas felt a little bit uncomfortable about the doctor's mysterious attitude regarding 'the debt to be paid.' Well, I guess I will find out soon enough. Let's check out those custom made weapons he told me about. He walks off to find his locker, being very careful not to bump his head in any doorways. Walking with his new body feels very strange. This is gonna take some time to get used to.

Find locker and inspect weapons.

VR-Charro clapped his hands together with excitement, grinning to himself as he beheld his creation. (RL-Charro giggled a bit and drooled.)
Something he designed might actually work! It felt rather strange, having actually done something himself, even in VR.
He'd always had someone else to do things for him; he had never cooked himself a bowl of chicken noodles, much less crafted a potentially-lethal fashion accessory. It was an alien feeling, but also quite satisfying.
'Of course, it is best to check if the thing actually works before getting too carried away with patting myself on the back...'
>So saying, Charro shall summon up a golfball, load it into the crown of the hat-launcher and attempt to, well, launch it.

"Hmm, the soul of the user powers the amps...

"Can an EMP wave disable or technically 'fry' the amps, or can a shock to the nervous system of the user work to destroy them?

"If so, is it possible to create such a device from conventional technology?"

"And if I'm wrong, define the human soul, in relation to the usage of those amps."

Ask all these, hope for it all to be answered.

"Is it possible to create a portable sniper attachment to the gauss rifle?"

Actually, that's a good idea. Test a kinetic amp tipped, an explosive tipped one and one that has an explosive followed by an amp. Trigger the explosive after the amp damages the armor.
Ok, explosive tips can work fine, though you'll need to decide on how they trigger; if it's time or impact based. Now, the problem with the amp one is that the amp is going to trigger pretty much the instant it's fired because the act of being fired is gonna read like the force of being hit: A lot of energy being put into it at once. This means it's going to create a shockwave as it fires and that is gonna throw off the aim a fair bit.

((I want to find out how thick the plates are on a Battlesuit and compare thickness with my own custom plate to get a rough mental idea of how much damage it could take. Everything else should make sense as it is.))
I can't really tell you the properties of the plate you made because if I remember right you went through a lot of iterations of different thicknesses and materials-some of which I'm not 100% sure if you modified or not- and I'm not sure which one you want. A quote of it's composition would help immensely.

In terms of the strength of the battlesuit plate though, it took a direct hit from a nuclear tipped gauss cannon shell in a simulation and kept both the pilot of the suit alive and the suit functional. Using a direct hit by a nuke as a standards cutoff point is gonna be a very hard thing to get around, especially if you're gonna be a stickler about the weight. In general, if the three qualities are Weight, protectiveness and cost, at least 2 of them have to be proportionally large when it comes to regular, solid, material based armors.

You're starting to feel twitchy and you break out in a cold sweat. Your muscles and bones ache.

Query: Any kind of prototyping system to test results in the field?

>I'm sincerely regretting ever giving any of you the chance to prototype this junk. But I'll make you a deal. You can have your prototype, but only on the condition that you have to assemble the shells by hand.

This is gonna take some time to get used to.

Find locker and inspect weapons.
You head to the hanger and open your locker. Inside there are 3 weapons, a short, shotgun looking thing, a longer rifle with a large clip, and a very long, very heavy looking rifle with a scope on it.

VR-Charro clapped his hands together with excitement, grinning to himself as he beheld his creation. (RL-Charro giggled a bit and drooled.)
Something he designed might actually work! It felt rather strange, having actually done something himself, even in VR.

>So saying, Charro shall summon up a golfball, load it into the crown of the hat-launcher and attempt to, well, launch it.
You successfully launch the golf ball, though not very far.The springs don't have much force behind them and it's not terribly easy to keep hold of the hat, plus pulling it back is crumpling up the top.

"Is it possible to create a portable sniper attachment to the gauss rifle?"

>The amps are fairly well shielded, though a powerful enough emp might be enough to knock them out. Though to create an emp like that you'd probably need something like a nuke, and if you have a nuke then disabling things isn't a problem. Same with the shock. Maybe you could, but you'd kill the person long before you fried the amp.

>The soul thing was a joke. The thing leaches energy from the body by taking in chemicals and nutrients and using them to generate power.

>And define what you mean by sniper attachment.

So much for that idea.

"Well, since every idea I try to make something else fails horribly, I'm going along the lines of modifying what already exists.

"The attachment is just what it says, could probably be an addition to the Rifle that could be taken off and on easily, perhaps helping in accuracy at medium range or elongating the barrel to provide more firepower at short range.

"And maybe modify the stock to be heavier, to help in melee?"
