If the enemies within his turret's range, Charles will open fire onto the center of the group so that bullets that miss may hit other parts of the group.
Waaaaaait for it....
((Would these bogeys be the amp guy in the wheelchair and chunks of rubble, or...something else?))
"They're...a little cute. Thanks, Miss Feyri!"
Attempt to take one. If I don't get bitten, take the rest and return to the ship. If I do, return it to Ms. Feyri's arm and hurry to the infirmary to make sure it wasn't poisoned or something.
You pull one of the...whatever they are...off Feyri's arm. It tries to bite you, but your suit is good enough to stop the nibbles of small animals at least. You stick it and several others in a large box with holes in it that I'm just gonna assume you brought with you, because honestly, who would go animal hunting without a cage, right? Right?
You give the box to feyri to carry and head back toward the ship, boarding the elevator and listening to the shouting over the radio. Huh, seems like something exciting is happening up there.
"So the answer is something horrible! I knew it couldn't be all sunshine and butterflies when a literal God machine can be freely distributed to whackjobs and psychopaths with reckless abandon."
"Speaking of which, Sandy, are you worried at all about getting mind controlled by one of those Urban Executors or Shadow Walkers, or do you have some kind of safeguard in place for that sort of thing? Judging by the way you generally cheat at reality, I'd suspect you were immune somehow, though I'll be damned if I know how. So, are you? And if so, how is that even possible? Seems like an important thing to know and all."
Ask more.
"Being taken over like that is a test of will. I tend to be pretty willful, if you haven't noticed."
Be unconcious while waiting.
They're basically rewriting your entire genetic code here. Don't be surprised if it takes a few turns. We're also moving a bit slower because of the incoming targets, so thats effecting things too.
"Ok."
wait.
You stand perfectly still and try not to override anything. It's hard. Goes against your nature.
((I like how Gorat's response to incoming bogeys is something along the lines of "DAMMIT, this will interrupt my busy schedule of keeping on guard for bogeys!" ))
STEPHEN HAWKING goes back to that calculating crate-punch vectors thing. Also punching one toward them if the opportunity arises...there REALLY isn't much for a melee-focused character to do this mission
You could, I dunno,
GO CHARGE EM LIKE A REAL MAN! "Wait. Hold your fire until we know for sure these aren't our teammates. I'll see if I can identify them, but if they open fire, or are obviously being controlled, feel free to shoot them. Just remember, I'm in the lobby too, so try not to toss too many explosives in here. And could someone take a look at that debris that went flying? It's probably nothing, but let's not take chances right? Gonna go radio silent after this, and if any of you see living white fire, run and tell the Armory Master that she has some work to do. Morul out"
Settle deeper into cover, and do my damnedest to not get seen. Report the identity of the approaching forces to the team. Brace myself for incoming mindfuckery for when I have to get out of there.
As the bogeys approach, you can identify them as Sods. A group of 10 or so, moving at a brisk pace toward the walkway and the sword. They'll be entering firing range from the walkway soon.
"Bogeys confirmed. Sods. 10 or so . Be ready to fire through the windows on the left side. Find cover, they're probably gonna be doing the same."
Theodore got the message about potential enemies and smiles, it was about time.
Wait to identify the possible bogeys, if hostile fire a 3 second pulse at them.
You watch your cameras and wait. You notice something moving on the floors above, shadows moving across the windows.
"Possible second group! Upper floors!"
(What? I thought I was still I that blast zone, dammit brain!)
go into the pit of punting to look for that half a control room and that amp specialist
You head out onto the gangway but someone grabs you and throws you behind a metal box.
"Dang it, aren't you listening to the radio? We got incoming from that direction. Either get ready to fight back or keep your head down."
We waited that long for an attack, and now it comes? Coincidence? Hopefully.
"No change in plans, Leo. Continue."
Continue as we were. Be ready for mind control or treachery.

Appearance: 5'11'', 170 pounds in a rather unmuscular frame, shoulder-long brown hair, short goatee, brown eyes, a rather long chin that earned him his nickname. Age 32
Half a robot foot. Robot right arm.
You pull at the lady's shirt a bit. It's real.
"Alright, this one checks out. Now we-"
You hear the thump of dozens of boots in the distance, quickly coming closer.
"Fuck."
((Aye, which is why I was going to check and make sure she isn't, by making sure her clothing was indeed clothing. We could just shoot her if you'd prefer. That might be safer, actually, since the UE could always just mindjack her, or be using her as eyes.))
Thinking: Next time, bring a taser and some handcuffs.
"Sorry lady, no more time, we have to move now." Pick her up and put her into a fireman's carry, then haul her back to our room.
((BTW, Gorat, I was right on the fence on if to kill her or not, and was writing the post when you posted that.))
You grab the woman and heft her, screaming and struggling, over your shoulder.
"Geez, listen lady were' just-ow, stop kicking me-trying to help here."
You hear the boots the same time Gorat does. You look at each other for a moment before sprinting back to the office and slamming the door. You start piling filing cabinets, chairs, anything you can find against the door.
"Not good."
"contact imminent, we advise taking cover"
"Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy, it's finally starting. I'm excited, aren't you?"[/i]
"and thus the maws of oblivion open, but we shall be there to hold back the onslaught"
"Oh, I knew you were excited!"
Stand in cover, Look for hostiles, be ready to deflect attack back to sender with my amp
You grab some fresh thawed newbie and throw him behind cover before peeking out and waiting. You're breathing fast. You can feel your heart racing. You're a member of joker team. Black ops. Elite fighters hand picked by one of the oldest veterans around. This what you've been waiting for. This is what you where born to do!
T. gives a resigned sigh. The doctor wouldn't do surgery on him unless he was sure the side-effects were minimal, after all.
... wait a sec
Be surgery upon
((Still not sure if I want to ask to be fireproofed, or if I'd rather keep as much humanity as I can get away with...))
"Alright I want you to smile and say 'Huh?' while I stick this syringe full of chemicals into your neck." Maurice says.
"Huh?"
"Perfect."
He jabs you in the neck with a syringe and everything goes black.
]Renen in auto-mode: Follow Lyra. Protect with BT at any attack.
Renen's extra action: After safely scouting the catgirl back to the ship if she decides to stare at Maurice, leave and head to the area used for cover against the explosion. Check if there's any sign of movement around the immediate surroundings and if nothing is found, ascend to the next floor and check a few rooms.
Do this action.
You walk out onto the gangway, listening to the screams of bogeys over the radio. No. That will have to wait. It's time to prove your worth as a robo-ronin.
Our glorious leader has just punted half of our mission objective into that irradiated pit area, If someone with sufficient radiation shielding or hunger for superpowers sees half of a control room and a guy in a wheelchair fly past them could they please recover the corpse of the UWM amp specialist from the wreckage?
Thank you.
"Don't even think about doing that Grate."
Get those furry ferret-sized beetles off and..into containment.
"...Can we head back to the Sword now?"
Feyri left the messages on her wristpad for later browsing.
You carry The box of fuzzy whatsits back to the elevator with Grate.
"Looks like we have company."
Wait inside the ship so that I can see the door but am still in cover. Prevent hijackings.
You climb back inside the ship, which is several dozen stories down from the gangway and probably not gonna be under attack and keep your gun pointed at the doorway.
"Come get some, human scum."
Bogeys? Hopefully that will keep for a while... shouldn't be any injuries for a while, anyway...
Skylar heads over to the AM after checking his drone cameras real quick.
Hey, I recovered that blackship Steve sent us looking for and wanted to know if I could get some new control software for it. It's computer... let's say it left. Which I'm actually alright with, I wanted to wipe it out anyway before I continued using it. Better to just reinstall the software than to allow any traps to remain in software... I don't need much, just some basic flight and weapons control software. It has some point defenses, which I think were automated in the original software. If an option to bring them under manual fire control isn't difficult, that would be extremely helpful.
Describe the blackship to the AM & attempt to obtain flight control software for the blackship, then head back out to the ship if I can get there without going out to the gangway / through any fighting.
"We should be able to get the computer's programs back off his, "she gestures to jack "suit once steve is back. Just wait till then. It shouldn't be too long."
"Possible bogeys on the Concourse. Everyone look alive."
Hiss once, then hop off the bed and go to the hanger area, hidden behind a corner from the gangway. use my wrist-comp to watch out the cameras placed all over the gangway and monitor the situation. listen and smell for people trying to sneak past me and into the ship. Hiss at anyone who makes fun of my mop-like appearance, and wait for my fur to dry already.
You slink out to the hanger and couch down behind some boxes, hiding yourself while keeping an eye on the cameras. You sniff the air occasionally, just to make sure.
"Oh great. Perfect timing."
Anton is rather apprehensive of the shift in enemy activity. On one hand, an incoming attack force means things are no longer boring. On the other hand, boring is safe. He turns up his radio to contact the defenders.
"Anton Chernozorov to defense team. Currently returning from away team's nuclear mess-up site. Will be passing through concourse, not sure if before or after enemy. Check your fire."
Backtrack through the shipyard to the concourse. Stay on alert for any movement anywhere at all, try to keep quiet, seek cover if possible enemies spotted. If arriving at the concourse without spotting enemies, sprint to the defensive line, broadcasting my identification, all weapons holstered.
A large chunk of building slams into the ground about a quarter mile from the crater moments after you finish talking.
"Yeah, enough with this place."
You head back toward the concourse but stop before entering it. The group of sods Morul is tracking is coming down the concourse straight toward you. Running for the gangway means running basically straight out in front of them. Probably a poor idea. You sit in the little hall before the concourse proper and consider your options.
You're in a good flanking position. Could wait till the shooting starts then take a few down yourself...or just hang back and avoid it all. They're gonna need techs and medics after this, you're sure of it. Hmm.
