I cant wait till my bat-chip is perfected... it has so many potential uses...
Only problem is the chips probably going to go the way of my electromagnetic stake thrower

Hell the damn thing probably costs 3-4 tokens already...
Don't forget the fact that it doesn't work in vacuum. If you go on a mission in some ship, asteroid, planetoid or airless anomaly that thing is worthless. Maybe you could make some sort of lidar that works the same or better. Electromagnetic radiation is so much easier to work with and can tell you so much more about the environment. You could see through walls, analyze objects' chemical composition based on how they refract different light frequencies, see things that are invisible to the naked eye, detect heat sources, see the polarization of light... All you need is a powerful computer, the right software and a bunch of high quality sensors and light emmiters and you'll have something like the Predator's mask. But that would be a bit expensive. Hmmm... It is decided. Once I get back I'm making a Predator mask, if only to see if it will work.

I considered making those hoverballs from prometheus but i just couldnt resist having the ability to make "im batman" jokes

Clearly running multiple missions at the same time is a terrible idea.  The epic battle to see which team can cock it up worse has escalated again.

And Larry kinda gets blueballed in all this; just left with a raging bone spear and no where to put it.

((Note to self: When back on ship, take the combat drones and replace the lasers with cameras, thus making a vastly improved scout eye. I could call them Kinos. Possibly use a cameye camera/lenses.))

Wait a second... suits have speakers so you can talk to civilians right?
If so i can make actual bat chip instead of bat echolocation module and i can make it for cheap

((If I recall well, they already have a small camera attached so you can operate them from a distance. If not, the fact remains that it will most likely get destroyed, so using cameye parts may not be the most cost-effective. Why not just install a cameye into your yourself?))

Hehe nah your right, the sound goes around the corner but bats only get the first bounce

Ultrasound is valid though and ultra low frequencies can travel for miles so theoretically i could map more through echolocation than i could with standard eyeballs.
Mapping at that distance is obviously impractical but it will allow for extremeley large rooms to be mapped with ease.

make that wireless echolocatoin module
Just the module itself or would you like to build it into something that could like, fly around and map for you? Something like that wouldn't be to hard I'd think. I mean, least for places with atmosphere.

Attempt to create a bullet hell shooter in VR designed for Field Manipulator users to train their skills, have the game specified as follows:
Every barrage is created in a pattern determined by a randomized equation that incorporates various complex mathematical formulas.
Before every barrage, the equation that controls the barrage is displayed for a short period of time.
The game will be so difficult that the only way to survive a barrage is to quickly analyze the formula to predict the trajectory and pattern of bullets.
Bosses have shields that have complex equations displayed on them, the equations change every few seconds.
To damage a boss, the equations must be solved and the answer inputted, this will temporarily disable the shield.

oooooo

You're making Typing of the Dead. Or more accurately Ikaruga for Manipulators.

Hmmm Now this dear friend, I will need a bit to think about. But good on ya, ya clever little bugger.

"Hmm, neat. Too bad on the limited range though..well, let's leave it at that."

Exit VR, look around the rec room if anything interesting happened in the meantime, if not go watch TV

Well...depends on your definition of interesting. I mean, over there in the corner there looks to be a greater demon, there's a machine over there that gives you meat that may or may not be long pork, so to speak, and you're surrounded by murderous space criminals with enough space guns to shoot your space guts into space orbit.

But I guess thats all fairly normal. Nah, tv time.

The channel it's currently on is talking about efforts to recycle and retire old Altered war weapons.

"Right thats it, medic time.

MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC!

((I really do have the worst luck with artifacts.))
In space no one can hear you scream. Especially when you have no head.

Yeah, I'm using the ambiguity of your action as an opportunity to fuck with you. Big surprise right?

((Hmm ok))

Message doc about those effects of the virus I wanted to know about.

Identify growth medium, Along with the minimum ctritical mass for a crystal seed to grow

Identify chemical makeup and molecular structure of crystals

Finally see if by the use of growth preventer and flanges to stop crystals clogging the joints of the armour create a coating of    Crystal to refract low power lasers.

Alright, I'll be straight with ya here, space man, I have no idea what you're referring to when you say "Virus" in this context. I don't remember anything having to do with a virus in relation to these crystals. Could ya give me a hint as to what you're talking about?

((Think if it as the AK equivalent and avatar of war as the M16 equivalent. Oh and the 8 meter exoskeleton will have system like armour shrikes. Also want it to have a a gauss rifle, laser rifle or coil gun that it coould carry along with a avatar of wars tesla saber. Or a plain old sword. It would be used for looking over taller objects without waiting jump fuel, support of other teammates in battle and fighting any threats which are to large or a normal person while still being cheap. It's boosters woul look like the mk3s, faster than a battlesuit but slower than a avatar and the same with armour.))

Design a mech between a avatar and a battlesuit. First get the exoskeleton and scale to 8 meters while adding somesort of seat or system to allow a normal person to pilot it then put armour where the pilot will be and any other vital areas. Also scale a gauss rifle, laser rifle or somesort of gauss machine-gun for it. Also design a melee weapon for it to use. Also give it boosters on the back. It should be about in-between the avatar and battlesuit in speed and and slighty less armour than a battle suit while being cheaper. But still give the avatar and battlesuit usefulness as the new mech should be able to go places a avatar cant.
Hmm. Ok so lets say that the Battle suit is basically this

But with less women, at least so far. Would you be good with that, but with armor stripped off to keep it light and extra boosters? Because thats basically the melee type Battle suit.

I ask because when you go custom, everything gets more expensive, even if it seems like it should be cheaper. You're pretty much not gonna get a middle ground there for a middle ground price.

((Seems the weirdest stuff happens when I'm not looking.))

Go to the infirmary. Ask whether they can treat Astro coma. Look around for anything unusual.

The nurse tells you "MAYBE!" and bounces away, apparently very happy about something. Eh. As per unusual things, there's a weird looking cube on the ground.

Wow. Now-
Dropping aside the painting, Maurice started running towards the source of the scream. ...Somewhere in the barracks?
Find the person pleading for medical help. Escort the injured to the infirmary ASAP. Judging by the scream tone, that person is not yet dying, but is about to be. I have to hurry.
(( The bathroom is in the barracks, right? Also, we could hear that cry for medical aid, couldn't we?))

((Now, the talk is awesome; would definitely like to listen to another one. So many answers given, so many questions raised. I suppose we should really start piling up the hinted knowledge and refining it with lengthy discussions and complex theories. ))
You run into the bathroom and Find a man staring at the mirror, screaming for seemingly no reason. He doesn't look injured, although he is trying to grab something off the floor that doesn't appear to be there. Huh. You'd be lying if this was at all new or disturbing to you.

"Oh good. Another one whose brain fell out. "

Arrive on the ship.
You fall out of a stasis pod in the barracks and sort of flop around for a minute before getting up, wiping some of the goo off, and looking around. Well you're naked, in a barracks, with a box of clothes beside you. Someone is screaming from the bathroom near by. You feel the distinct desire to crawl back into the pod.

((Posting mostly to keep track of the game, and say that holy superstrings I am only 34 pages in out of almost five hundred in this thread and 150 pages in out of as many in the other, I can't afford to allocate this much time to reading, dangit!
(and I want to participate too, and I won't be able to until I am up to speed on everything, so that's at least a week out at the current rate..)

Great job on running this for this long, piecewise! Einsteinean Roulette's first place in the RtD Hall of Fame is well deserved indeed. ^_^))
Thank you, good sir, and welcome. Always glad to have more disposable meat shields Valued crew members.

(Don't worry about what kind of character is needed; there's so many that pretty much all types are covered, and who goes on a mission is random so there might be a mission consisting of like all conventional weapon users or three medics and Jim or some other combination like that. Make whatever seems most interesting to you. If you want some advice, though, probably invest a few points into Handiwork and/or be a Technician so you can make the stuff you come up with in Tinker. ^^^ Plus I don't believe we actually have a Technician-classed character. >.>)
I believe pyro might have been a technician a while ago. And that all went swimmingly.

OH GOD I DIDN'T EVEN NOTICE THE PUN.

((Also, it still boggles my mind that PW is an English major. I'd have thought he'd be chemistry or something.))
Hmm. I could take that either as a complement that I am reasonably scientifically minded for someone with a literature back ground, or that my chosen profession is vastly at odds with my talents. Hard to say, is it a +5 to Irony's next roll or a -5.

Are ya feeling lucky, punk?  :P

((Note to self: When back on ship, take the combat drones and replace the lasers with cameras, thus making a vastly improved scout eye. I could call them Kinos. Possibly use a cameye camera/lenses.))
Is that a reference to "kino's journey"? I really hope so.

remove data cable, replace it with wireless modem
Copy echolocator micro computer, modify it to connect directly to suit external comms systems and HUD.

Do this, top line should create the remote module and bottom should make bat chip.
make sure the bat chip has wireless connectivity with the remote echolocation modules.
Ensure bat chip sends out 60 encoded pulses per second
Wireless module should send out 25 pulses per second.
Pulse encoding should prevent the same pulse being recorded multiple times, this should eliminate phantom teammates appearing due to echos.

((After thinking about it for a moment..is that supposed to be Ivan?))

"Murderous people, murderous meat dispenser, murderous demon.."
"..wait, what!?"
As Zephyris turned to the TV, she took another look at the demonlike thing in the corner. Surely the few minutes in VR could'nt have already affected her grasp on reality.
"Hallucinogens in the food maybe..?", she thought, "..probably not.. I hope."

Look at demon again; if I still see it ask Steve about it:

Hey Steve! Um..two simple questions: Over there in the corner..you see that? *points at demon* It's not just me, it's really there, isn't it? Who or what is that!?

Oh, sweet Medicine... Hi, Morul.
Let me tell you that there is nothing on the floor - especially nothing where you are trying to pick something - and there are no visible wounds on you; you still have your head and are talking to me with the use of the mouth. Sure, there might be internal injuries, or those goggles of yours are finally taking their toll on your sanity, or you just hit your head hard. Or something else.
Let me take you to the infirmary without delay, they'll fix whatever is messing with your head - or with my vision.

Take Morul to the infirmary. Get him a mental physician.
