My friend has a crashing problem on his network. Whenever he watches Youtube videos, his computer crashes. I assumed it was just his drivers or Flash, so he updated both. However, the problem continued. He also ran MBAM, but it came across nothing. I considered the possibility of a RAM issue, but he ran Memtest or something and it came up with nothing as well. It also isn't an overheating issue, because he can just turn his computer on for the day and it will crash, while he can play a computer game for hours with no problem. I went over to his house today for a LAN party, and went to watch a Youtube video on my computer. A few minutes into the song, my computer froze for around a minute, then unfroze and froze again a minute later. Sound continued to play, however it was really distorted and slower. Now I think it might just be something with his network, but I can't be entirely certain. He said that he was getting a new router soon, so I might be able to test it then. Has anyone come across a problem like this before?
Actually yes, flash has notorious issues with hardware acceleration and lots of graphics card, try turning off the acceleration and see what happens.

Ok definitely need to test that monitor on another device or vice versa.
I've tested the monitor on another PC. It works exactly the same way it does with my current laptop - screen flashes on for about a second, and then everything goes black again.

Toasted monitor
(sorry)
The mainboard in the monitor is dead and needs to be replaced. Better off buying a new one.

Urgh, I thought that might be the case :(
Incidentally I found the manufacturer's website and troubleshooting page today and tried asking it to troubleshoot my problem, and it suggested that the backlight on the monitor had failed.

If you're in Melbourne, http://www.pccasegear.com/ are alright. Got headphones and a router from them, pretty straightforward.

Yes, I'm in Melbourne (how'd you guess? D:), but it doesn't look like they have repair kits in stock. Unless you meant "Get a new monitor from them", in which case that makes more sense.

It was less guessing and more 'if you happen to live here', but yeah, I mean for a new monitor.

Ah.. yeah that makes sense. Your sig on the other hand implied otherwise :P
As for the monitor I might try repairing it first.
