Are you sure that cooler didn't come with a molex connection as thats less of a headache than this.

That's it. Was told to try to plug in each fan to the motherboard seperately, but the cords are so damn short. The unit is fine, this is the second one with the same problem.

Can we see where you've plugged the fan in?

Also check the bios for fan settings

EDIT: Try plugging just one fan in using the adapter as an extender.

My comp makes weird loud grinding noises when I turn it on, they quiet down in about 20 mins but it's still pretty loud. Thinking the fan is loose or something, but I already cleaned the comp of dust (took it completely apart, cleaned fans + heatsink, etc) but the noise is still there. What do?

1. Check no cables are in the fan.
2. Find out which fan. Replace it, the bearing is gone.

Does your motherboard have a chipset fan?  Those are almost always trouble and a lot of people miss them.

I recently had two 120mm fans start to do this to me. They would make noise like you describe, but I could fiddle with them to stop the noise. Really annoying. Luckily I had two recently purchased fans I was using, so they were replaced without a problem. I think it's a good idea to buy a bunch of cheap fans in case any of the ones you're using break.

check the bios to see if there is a fan setting to crank it up, try Speedfan if it even detects it. If you are still worried go ahead and stick a bic lighter to the sensor and see what happens.

Alright, I'm reviving this because of a new problem.

Out of the blue my Mom buys these two small laptops for about 75 dollars total. Also, a new router because man I hate our old router so much, I might have complained about it in the past.

So now we have new stuff. These little laptops have Windows XP on them, and the smaller of the two is having problems connecting to our new wireless network.

It's in the Wireless Network Selection Screen with a good signal, and I select it and hit connect, but then it shows me the trying to connect thing for a minute or so, and then nothing. I'm waiting for it to ask me for the security key, but it just never does, and thus never connects.

I'm not quite sure what to do to get it to cooperate.

wow ok, if you do a wired connection with the laptop does it work then?

Yeah, wired works fine. In fact, I'm typing this post from the little lappy wired to the router.

Yea sounds like the wireless is acting up, try reinstalling drivers and if that dont work it died which is common

Sooo...dumb question time. I don't know as much about video cards as I probably should, so I need some advice. I have an ATI Radeon 6450HD, it came stock with my compy. It works fine, but I don't get super-ultra-flawless speed. I am not a hardcore gamer, by any stretch of the imagination. The most visually demanding of my games is Civ V Gods and Kings, and possibly The Sims 3.

Is it worth the money to go up to the 6770? Should I go all the way up to the 7770?
