Boost to the right and fire a distracting volley at the drones once more.

Kira:

The vast majority of drones that were away from Kira missed their shots again, albeit this time they've engaged their engines and got a little closer. The large metal slug hit the same drone again, making it spin vertically for a moment.

Moment later, few more laser shots connected with Kira's suit.

"WARNING. Shield capacity minimal. Hull integrity critical. Retreat. Retreat." The computer's voice again was heard in the virtual cabin.

'When facing an enemy, retreat is a viable option.'

Kira looked at her suit as if it was a tool, something to achieve a greater task. Retreat was an option, and the reactor could hold out for a while. But then what? There were still enemies.

There were still threats.

Boost in the opposite direction of the drones, then target the lead drone with the Devastator Launcher.

Fire it.

Kira:

The majority of the drones idly sailed through the darkness, trying to catch up with the suit that was using boosters. The few closest drones shot at Kira, scoring only one hit out of three.

Through the reinforced cockpit window, Kira could see the large missile burst out from somewhere on the right side of her head, and then fly straight toward the drone.

The rocket missed it's target and exploded with help of proximity detectors, but that meant nothing for drone.

"WARNING. Shield capacity minimal. Hull integrity critical. Retreat. Retreat." The computer repeated it's warning, propably thinking that Kira didn't heard it on the first time.

'It was worth the try...'

Fire a few shots at the nearest drones, then boost in their proximity, using my blade as my weapon of last resort.

Kira:

The shot connected with the first drone in vicinity - it exploded in a cloud of orange flame and smoke. Next shot was lucky one, hitting another drone, but they got into vicinity and opened a volley of several dual shots. The suit registered the hits, shaking violently, and the console began exploding and sending sparks everywhere. Suddenly, with a hum, the virtual suit dissappeared and through her VR vizor, Kira could see the training room again.

"Suit destroyed. Calculating. Enemies destroyed: one viper class fighter drone. Scenario score after comparison to projections and calculations: 76 out of 100.

Suggestions: In this case of scenario, maneuverability and long-range combat is key to success.
Highest drone-kill scores so far:
1. L - 7 drones, Aggressor-C
2. Thomas Halley - 5 drones, Aggressor-B
3. Irvine Eagleheart - 4 drones, Aggressor-A
4. Minata Tokugawa - 4 drones, Unicorn
5. Sergei Ivanov - 3 drones, Aggressor-A

End of the scenario. Take off your equipment to finish or select other scenario from the menu."

Kira sighed as she pushed up the visor. It wasn't like her to relive past experiences, through more failure.

Still, she did expect to die off during the first shots. The feeling was intense, calculating multiple variables at any one moment.

She swore that someday, she would beat that score.

Finish training and...await the briefing/the others back at the Bridge.

Kira:

Just as the girl took out the visor, a voice boomed all over the ship...

Everyone:

"ATTENTION. Spaceship is leaving the Vortex." This was followed with a hum, and then a thud as whole ship shook delicately. Instantly after that, a low-pitched, rather quiet siren sounded across the decks.

"YELLOW ALERT. Entering hostile zone." The computer, feminine voice was replaced by a brief moment of static.

"I like to remind that while we're in Yellow Alert, you're not supposed to take a nap, especially when you're a suit pilot or engineer." A male voice spoke through the intercom. "And while we're at it, make sure that- what is it?" There was a brief conversation, barely heard through the intercom.

Suddenly, a high-pitched siren sounded on the ship, making a brief pause every three seconds, and the tiny red lights began flashing in the corridors, rooms and halls.

"Several hostile ship signatures have been spotted on the long-range radar. This is not a drill. All hands to tbe battle stations. Pilots, mount your suits and prepare for launch - briefing will be commenced via radio once you're in the space. I repeat - this is not a drill. First Officer out." The same voice carried out the directions and the intercom channel closed.

The ship burst with activity of a flooded anthill - engineers began running down the corridors to their appropriate sections, while several people in black suits began entering small, circular rooms resembling something of a lift.

"Well, this is quite the surprise."

Kira heeds the command, mounting her suit and preparing for launch. Hoping the others she saw earlier were also going out.

She didn't want to be alone.

Tsuchi jumps aboard his mech, having already been in the mech bay. He finds his hidden stash and lights up while everyone arrives.

Mission 1: Welcome to Tau Ceti!

Harpe was thus the last to enter the hangar.

The suits were positioned on the mass-driver lines. The feet of the mecha strapped to the magnetic rails, the Hangar was cleaned from personnel. Few seconds later, the main launch gate was opened and the air blown into the vast dark emptiness - with many asteroids, closer or further away from the ship. An asteroid field.

First to launch were Kira and Erava. Dylan and Tsuchi were launched into the space as the second part - Harpe was last to go.

"You should have your enemies on the visual." The voice of First Officer spoke through the radio, and indeed, five small, green-colored fighters could be seen in the distance.

"They appear to be of Viper class, the weakest of drones our forces met in battle so far, armed with dual light laser cannon. Proceed with caution - it is well known tactic of Tsuans to dump auto-operating drones in asteroid clusters, with their computers engaging their systems after enemy comes close to their position. This could be the only bunch, or maybe just a part of larger cluster. There's also always a possibility of a carrier or drone base hidden amongst the asteroids. We will monitor the long-range readings and warn you of any further enemy signatures. If you need back-up, fall back to the range of our front laser cannon. First Officer out."

"As this is your first mission," The cold voice of Cpt.Lydia could be heard on the radio now. "I expect you to prove yourselves to me and this ship. If you ever want to serve for this ship again, make sure that all that's left of this automated Tsuan scum are heaps of debris. Scylla out."

Turn 1:

//Notes:
Asteroids are clearly visible I hope. Any shot in straight line through the asteroid will miss, and you cannot stand on the same tile as asteroids.

Your icons are named after three first letters of your character's name. ERA for Erava, DYL for Dylan and so on.

You just post your actions - I deal with initiative rolls (1d6 + Initiative bonuses). The person with highest roll will be processed first. Remember - you can move and shoot; either with main weapon or side weapon, and you can launch missiles any time. Good hunting!
