Dylan walks into the Pilot Ready Room with another smoke in his hand, and a casual look on his face, he heads to his locker and gets to work placing stuff in it till finally he is forced to put the smoke out to change into his pilot uniform. Hastily putting the uniform on Dylan goes right back to smoking as he leans against the back of a chair staring up at the ceiling. Not long afterward the call came on over the speakers, and the others walked in, he nodded slightly as Harpe spoke, but otherwise stayed silent.

Kira was the last to enter the room, nearly stumbling as she crossed the doorway with a sleepy expression on her face, masked by that calm smile. Deep down, she was pretty irate after settling into bed, just to hear that distinct alarm go off right beside her, she was lucky that her Quarters were sound-proofed, as she could've sworn that the alarm was cranked to over seventy decibels of utter noise.

She moved up to the second to the last chair and sat down, she was surely awake now, having moved more than ten meters away from any rest source.

She looked at the rest, "This is not a drill?"

Harpe looked at Kira as though to say 'Sorry for waking you up..' To be fair, she was sorry for waking everyone up.

"Well, not exactly. This is two things. One, bureaucracy. These are copies of the inventory of spare weapons and equipment. Learn about them, learn to use them, what have you, on the off chance that we get time for a refit before the next mission.

That leads us to the second thing. As you may have noticed, I am now this squad's leader. Not sure how that happened given that Erava was the only person who told others to do things, but I'll deal with it. Dylan is second, though he doesn't get a fancy badge. Now, while I was being given the rank, I also learned that we are, in fact, going into the asteroid belt to look for a Tsuan outpost. I suspect we'll find one. Given that our last encounter with them went...poorly, I'd like to be better prepared for this one."

She looked at them all in turn. "Starting off, I want each of you to tell me what we'll find there and how you would deal with it."

"And didn't another pilot get transferred here? Where the heck are they?"

Kira blinked, wiping away a speck of dirt near her eye. "Scouting mission then, ma'am? We can call you ma'am, right?"

"By proper military etiquette, Harpe Locke indeed should be called ma'am." The computer spoke quietly above their heads.

Haspen chuckled and smiled. "If you want to call me that, then by all means.

And while it is a scouting mission, I don't doubt that we'll find what we're looking for. Those Tsuans came from somewhere, after all."

"Alright, let's finish this then before activity stagnates... and so I can sleep." Kira brushed away a speck of dirt near her eye.

"When do we start?"

"There is one big problem we are overlooking, the Tsuans tend to use hordes of drones backed by suits that out match our own. If we don't have any support other then the guns from this ship then we will all die, not trying to be harsh, but its the truth. Our current strength is to small to actively search for the outpost, our best bet would be to use stealth fighters, or sensors to find the outpost first then attempt a sneak attack on the outpost. Either way holds considerable risk for our lives, but the outcome depends on a simple factor at the moment, whichever race has more luck will win this fight, the other side will die ..." Dylan said before taking another drag from the cigarette, and lifting his head back up to stare at the ceiling.

"Dylan, I already know that. I am well aware that we are probably not going to win in a straight up fight." Harpe scowled at Dylan and made sure it was very clear that she did not like what he said.

"Since we are not going to die and we are not going to just go in there blind, give me some more constructive information."

"When do we start? Soon enough, I think. Could be tomorrow for all I know."

Kira clenched her fists, and silently cheered upon hearing 'tomorrow', before remembering that in space, tomorrow was hard to tell given their temporal technology, and the fact that she made it pretty obvious what her intentions were.

She held her hands up. "I-I mean...hurrah for preparedness! Let's meet up with our other allies, not the fleet, and make our attack. Though we may need certain intel on the Tsuans, mostly on the environment and their scanners."

"Odysseus is going to the fleet, remember? We only have ourselves, this ship, and our heads." Harpe sighed, looking at Kira gloomily.

"Don't look so cheerful. If we rush in blindly we will be destroyed. As you said, we need intel."

"Dammit would you give me a second to think." Dylan said as Kira, and Harpe continued to talk, he continued to stare at the ceiling, but his thoughts began to come together and a plan formed in his head. "Okay, well things are as I've stated, but we have a chance to win, our best bet is to set up an ambush, and lead the main forces of the Tsuan located here into it. We can easily use the asteroids to hide our suits, and even set traps with explosives we get, the thing we need though is to keep them at range, so one or two of us need to act as snipers with long range guns. If we pull them into a trap with just our suits, and the traps we set then we can us the confusion to allow this ship to take cover in the asteroid, and provide long range cover from within, and thats all I got." Dylan finished as he took out an old watch, and checked the time.

"Warning. Entering high-density asteroid field, outer Tau Ceti ring. Due to possible enemy presence in this sector, all high-energy experiments and computer communications are to be ceased to maintain element of surprise." The computer said aloud, beeped, and then everything was dimmer and quieter.

Dylan's clock showed that it was just two Earth minutes away from midnight.

"Well, it looks like we won't be able to communicate with each other if we're going with this. Meaning we've just landed back into military boot camp.

"Every person is his or her own soldier.

. . .

"Ma'am Harpe. Do you think us ready, and shall we head to our suits?"

"Well whatever your plan is I'll buy you all time to set up if needed." Dylan said as he took the last puff from his smoke, and placed it in the silver container before standing up. "To the end my sword shall be a blazing star, to the end shall I be the beacon ..." Dylan mumbled as he passed Harpe, and headed out of the door heading down to the hangar.
