Why? How?
« on: April 22, 2012, 07:01:06 pm »

My fortress just had its first baby  :D. Untill 5 minutes later, when a peregrine falcon somehow flew past all of my other dwarfs, into the bowels of my fortress and MURDERED this baby. Is baby murdering something they normally do?

Truly this is a blessed event, a sign even!

If it helps curb the dwarfsplosions later on, it is surely a miracle from armok.

Yeah, it would be kind of hard for it to do so considering I had it killed and made into jewlery for the elves.

So long as you have a legendary dinning room setup you are lucky because everyone here always complains about the number of children in their forts.

EDIT: unless they modded their dwarves to mature quickly.

I find it funny that until now, no one (including myself) stopped to consider the absurdity of a submarine in which the crew cabin is filled with water and the crew is drowning when everything is working properly.

Or, you know, set a child cap, similar to pop cap but more accurate

Ive never really had a problem with children, but in the newest version... is it just me or is the birth rate WAY higher than in DF2010? It was never a problem before, but now I feel like I get spammed with "Urist McDwarfy has given birth to a kid!" "Urist McDwarfy cancels eight different messages at once: seeking infant" messages. Did that change, or are my dwarfs just noticeably more horny in my newest few embarks?

Children are why I always have a bridge over a 20z drop with a burrow labeled "Chuck E Cheese Ball Pit"

I believe this counts as a bird omen.

Great things will happen at this fort.

While adding magma to anything will make it dwarfy, adding the word "magma" to your post does not necessarily make it funny.

It's probably because more families migrate into your fort. Just a guess, I could be wrong.

Great things will happen at this fort.

My guess? Death by Roc.

The falcons are more afraid of FPS death than you.

Well you may or may not be aware the peregrine falcons hunt vermin in a similar fashion to cats. It correctly identified the parasitic lifeform known as "dwarven baby" and proceeded to the next logical step.

more seriously, yes, I've had peregrins fly down several (busy) stairs into my fort, causing trouble now and then, but never had anything killed by one.
