I actually used a scoped shotgun for a while.

I was at the end of the game, so I needed something against the shields the Guardians had. The only shock weapon I found was the shotgun. It seemed really hilarious to basically be shooting at birds in the sky with a shotgun.

I've actually used a pretty neat scoped shotgun for some time. It helped that its accuracy was around 60 or 70 or so, so it was reasonably good at range. Worked for anti-air at least.

Scoped shotguns are actually far more useful than I had expected.

Both my hunter and siren have such weapons, and a majority of the bullets hit their targets quite well with little room for error.  I dunno about anyone else, but I love the Terrible Matador series of shotguns. Strongest guns in the game, as well as long-range if you're good enough with them, I would have to say from experience; plus, not often you can successfully snipe something with a shotgun either.

Funny enough, it was that comic that made me more interested in buying Borderlands, just for such oddball configurations.

I dont think I have ever used a Terrible Matador. All I have found have been pretty, well, terrible.

I once found an awesome...hunters something shotgun. Had a ludicrously large clip, so it was basically non-stop shotgun fire, had decent damage and accuracy too I think. Reloading took ages though, but I was Mordecai with Killer, so killing something cut down on that.

EDIT: Wait...I actually did have a terrible matador at some point.
EDIT2: This thread makes me want to play through Borderlands again.

In reality, shotguns are relatively accurate. I think up to 100-150 meters depending on the choke? I forget the numbers, but it's a fairly good distance.

Not so accurate in video games. Balancing, you know?

Didn't use shotguns much in BL though. Playing as the soldier all you needed was a fairly accurate assault rifle (the burst ones) and you can triple-headshot snipe people relatively easily even at longer ranges.

I actually remember one randomly generated gun that got me through the last two areas and final boss fight. Can't remember the exact stats, but it was a triple-shot Helix rocket launcher. Beautiful damage and accurate like you wouldn't believe.

Up until I pulled that gun off the recently-exploded corpse of one of the Lance, I was having some real troubles with the last areas. The only problems I had after that were ammo problems- It chewed through ammo like a fat kid chews through chocolate bars.

Good guns seem to do that.

One gun got me practically through the entire game. Was a blue 3x caustic revolver. Cant remember the name. Later found the only upgrade to it, a revolver with Give Sick that looked identical to it, just a different colour. Found the first one in the store in Fyrestone. Dont remember where I found the 2nd one. I was always out of revolver ammo, cause I used those revolvers so much.

I've got two guns.
An SMG and a shotgun.
The SMG has about a 28 something fire rate that gets pumped up to 40 with the soldier abilities and 60 when someone dies.
250 dmg and a 200 mag. 99 accuracy and a 2.5x scope.

The shotgun has a 24 mag, 280 dmg, 20 pellets, 40 accuracy, and 1.5 fire rate.

All that I need.

Funny, I could never get rocket launchers to kill anything :/ Revolvers, on the other hand... I remember only ever using those two-shot ones with the absurd reload speed. You think it's going to be terrible, and then you look at the damage and start using it, and it's like an AA sniper rifle with speedloaders.

EDIT2: This thread makes me want to play through Borderlands again.
Actually doing a playthough with a new character, Brick, atm. Found a bug or something that makes it funny as hell. Going into Second wind when doing his Ability and dieing will have him seem to put on rollerblades, I was moving around like Siren during her Planeswalk speed...

Also, anyone else wanna do a Fresh playthrough of Borderlands? From the start and so forth???

I recall lucking out and winning a shotgun at Lvl 29. That shotgun had an awesome ammo capacity, had x12 shots per shot and dealt relatively high damage. I never threw it away, at least until I reached 69.

EDIT: Yeah, just checked my save and I really did throw it. D: But I think it was a 12x80 something shotgun, with at least 8 ammo capacity (drum type). And it was purple, too. Don't remember if it had a scope, but now that I think of it, I think it had a short range one. It was a Torgue, which would explain the high damage.

E2: I remember getting it while doing the Circle of Slaughter quests, so the weapon level must be Lvl 27+ or so.

I had a shotgun, I can't remember what it was but I can probably find it if I look on the borderlands thread, one sec (heh, because that's a thing on forums...)

Spoiler: Here it is (click to show/hide)

It was rad.  Lasted me like 15 levels before it stopped one-shotting people, then near the end of the game I found an identical but better one.

EDIT:  I might be interested in a coop playthrough.
