I've had a migrant come in with Great Appraiser and he wasn't a trader.

I've had dwarves show up in Dwarf Therapist that I couldn't find anywhere in the 'u' menu, in mine or others. Thing is one guy had really good social skills and I wanted to use him, later on I found his dead body some distance away from my entrance down the river. So he wasn't a vampire as he had the same name. Maybe a migrant who got lost, shame.

The wannabe traders block other migrants from coming in for quite some time, meaning that ones that appear in therapist can actually still be off-map for a while.

And don't kill them yourself, as you've found out, they're great at spotting ambushes

Jam a door with its corpse and let all the goblins in. Hey, nobody said it had to be a weapon against your enemies.

He will leave with the next DWARF caravan.
And no reason to murder them; they can act as lookouts for any ambush/thief blundering about.

This has to be filked...  Go on... please let me...  Well, I'm doing it anyway, even though it needs a little artistic licence and is not describing your situation...

Oh yes I'm the Great Appraiser, <ooh ooh>
Pretending I'm a merchant, <ooh ooh>
And so I pledge I'll stay at the edge,
I'm lonely but nonchalant.

Oh yes I'm the Great Appraiser, <ooh ooh>
I've come here in from the wild, <ooh ooh>
You play the game but one thing is plain,
I take less commands than a child.

There's hacks and some tooling to make it right,
There's hacks takes you back and restore what you lack

Ooh ooh yes I'm the Great Appraiser, <ooh ooh>
Now fighting first goblins, then clowns, <ooh ooh>
I may be daft to have stopped my craft,
Of earrings and rings and the crowns.
My gibs are in reds and in browns.

Yeaaaaaoooooaaaaaaaaaaah ooh hoo!
I smart with a start when my heart's torn apart.

Ooh ooh I was the Great Appraiser, <woooh woooh>
And fighting first goblins, then clowns, <woooh woooh>
I;ve been so daft to have stopped my craft,
Of earrings and rings and the crowns.
My gibs were in reds...
My gibs were in reds and in browns.

(Anyway, enough of that... I've also seen another thread recently, and there may have been more, dedicated to this problem and giving the DFHack solution.  Much apart from any mention in DFHack's own thread as already mentioned, but which I've not seen.)
