So...I bought the game on Amazon, got all the required shit(I think), dayz itself, sixupdater etc.

When I try  to connect to a DayZ server it just says "Connecting failed".

Anyone know what might be wrong? :/

EDIT: Think I've got it. It says required version is 1.60 and according to the main menu, my version is 1.59derpyderpy.

So...anyone know how to fix that?

Did you install 1.60 patch?, if not it can be downloaded from here http://www.arma2.com/index.php?Itemid=20&option=com_rokdownloads&view=folder&lang=en , its the first one, there are several mirrors.

You need to launch the game as Combined Operations. When it says it's missing chernarus it's not finding the Arma 2 resources.

I am launching the game as CO. It has the ArmA II and OA logos in the bottom left corner, and the icon thing is the CO one, so...

Are you using Steam?

Make sure you click "Launch Combined Operations" in the bottom of the list.

Also, when you installed co, you have to install arma 2 then run it, then install oa then run it, then run co. Otherwise you won't have the proper registry entries.

More importantly, does it say "@dayz" in the top right corner?
A common mistake, and one I made myself, is that the website doesn't tell you, but you have to unzip all the files you download into the Operation Arrowhead/@dayz/Addons/ folder.

Oh yeah, and make sure you've added this to launch options / command line for Operation Arrowhead:
-mod=@dayz -nosplash

Quote
4) Make a folder named "@DayZ" in your Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead directory.
5) Inside "@DayZ" folder create another folder named "Addons". It should look like this: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\@DayZ\Addons
6) Unpack all DayZ Mod files in the "Addons" folder.
Doesn't tell you eh...
If none of this works, try copying the contents of arma2/addons folder to your oa/addons folder.

Well it didn't mention unpacking when I downloaded it a week and a half ago.
They must have changed that.

I'm not using steam, I don't know how to use command line to run it unless I use a shortcut and it does say @dayz in the top right corner.

I'll try running ArmA 2 and see if it fixes it.

Ooo...kay.

When I run ArmA 2 it has version 1.11, the campaign is missing and the menu is in two sections with a grey-blue background. Also, there's no "start" or anything in the campaign menu.

I think I should probably reinstall the game...

You could try the six-updater thingy, it's supposed to help deal with some of the ArmA antics.
http://www.six-updater.net/

Having ArmA and OA on steam seems to have it's advantages though. All I had to do was start it and everything worked.

Lucky son of a beesh.

I got it on Amazon because CO was on sale for $15. I think I might just have to reinstall.

So hows everyone doing?
I have the good Coyote backpack, full nav equipment, a G17, a ton of cooked meat, and a decent amount of every medical item.
Also, during my latest bandit hunting session I got a GPS and traded my AK-74 with a reflex sight for a M249 with iron sights (Still wondering if that was a good idea or not).

All I need now are NVGs and a Rangefinder.
