To those who want to try this mod out but do not have the game.  Amazon is having a sale on it for 15 dollars!

http://www.amazon.com/Arma-2-Combined-Operations-Pc/dp/B003JZNDN4

Wait, wait wait wait wait wait wait wait

That's the base sale price for that bundle on Steam. It's not a deal at all, just Amazon pretending that it's a deal.

Wait a while, and it'll go on a real sale on Steam some time.

What are you talking about it's 30 bucks on steam.

Yes?

It's $30 there on Amazon, while on "sale".

The normal price is $60.

Ah, didn't see that one. Mah bad.

I still think I'm going to wait for Arma 3. I'm a sucker for graphics.

There is a singleplayer mode mission out now. It lets you try out the game without worrying about other players... but with a lot of worrying about zombies.

Dangit, Amazon. I'm second guessing my own decision. Fifteen bucks is pretty cheap for a game, especially one that I've played and enjoyed (Free version).

Quick, someone convince me otherwise.

Is the community fairly large? I don't want to jump into a game and find that no one plays it. (Cough, BF3, cough)

Does Operation Arrowhead include the 'odd' mission types, like hostage situations?

And, not that it matters, does it run through Steam?

It's on steam, and the game has been blowing up in popularity beyond belief. To bring a game like this into the top ten sellers on steam for a week or two now, even being in first place a lot, is a huge fucking explosion of a community. You want to get combined ops for sure.

I decided to stick with the Demo version of Arma 2 for now, until it goes on sale on Steam. I'd rather get all of the DLC's and stuff rather than just Operation Arrowhead, and the most likely place any of that's going on sale is on Steam.

The DLCs actually clear up some of the graphics too, as Day Z uses some textures from the PMC and British Armed Forces DLCs.
If you don't buy them, the mod downloads "Lite" versions, with low quality textures for certain objects, most noticeably things like back-packs and trousers.

Well Knight of Fools, most servers tend to be full.
I myself usually go on US13, nice low ping, plenty of people and always free slots.

I'd recommend you get it now, it's worth every cent, and more!

Can the version of ARMA2 from Amazon be registered on Steam?

No BuriBuriZaemon. But you can still add it as a non-Steam product so you can use the overlay.

So...I bought the game on Amazon, got all the required shit(I think), dayz itself, sixupdater etc.

When I try  to connect to a DayZ server it just says "Connecting failed".

Anyone know what might be wrong? :/

EDIT: Think I've got it. It says required version is 1.60 and according to the main menu, my version is 1.59derpyderpy.

So...anyone know how to fix that?
