No servers in the list at all? Or just no DayZ servers?

It shows no servers online at all. I want to try giving it a direct IP, but I don't know any good lists of servers.

This game looks very interestin but I just don't feel like buying the game only for a mod. I hope it goes on sale soon, I guess.

Sounds like a firewall issue or something.

For what it's worth, I agree with you 100% sluissa. The whole premise of a zombie apocalypse is to examine how people will react in a society in distress; will they become part of a productive group, perhaps a hardy loner, maybe begin preying on others or succumb and become another mindless drone.

True. However, as much as it's a simulation of a zombie apocalypse, it's also a game, and as such should ideally be fun to play.

A funny tactic that allegedly work in the mod is to send one designated runner from your group to get the attention of all the zombies in a town that your team is about to loot and lead them out into the wilderness. The runner then skillfully loses the  pursuing horde while the rest of the team loots the emptied area for supplies. While this is highly risky for the runner it lets the team preserve ammo in times of great need.

And the servers don't even work. Most people hang at "Waiting for server response" it seems. The only server I could get working was an out-of-date one that kept flashing my screen at me.

If the guy gives up his guns and supplies it's probably pretty OK.

And i completly understand why. This mod is bloody awesome, shame about Arma2 though. i´ve never seen a game ignore so many tried and tested interface conventions. o.0 And don´t get me started on the inventory . . .

Is there a Bay12 TS server? I´d like to play some rounds with ppl i can remotely trust, that would be really sweet :D

ArmA 2 is an ultra-hard military sim. It's basically a stripped-down and slightly modified version of a simulator sold to militaries to train troops. Apparently it does what it needs to, and they're fine with that. So is the community, apparently.

I have bought ARMA II: CO and have the DayZ mod, I did the tutorial yesterday in ARMA II: Free.
Thanks Bay12 for alerting me to this amazing mod!

I've had quite a bit of OFP: CWC and Resistance experience, so I shouldn't have too much trouble after the tutorials.
What I'm looking forward to most is the player-based part of this mod, voice chat with direct communication makes the world somehow seem much more real, if only players with mics could play, this would be even better!

Methinks I may put a [B12] In front of my name as thanks.
Edit: Or perhaps behind, whatever looks prettier.

We used this "tactic" to win a handful of paintball games, especially ctf ones : )

Running one of these servers is rediculously expensive. The guy does not optimize his serverside networking code and says you need between 2 and 5 TB of network access to run one of these things, plus total access to your server itself to run all the various associated programs.

Is there any interest in a Bay 12 server? I'm not volunteering to run it myself- I don't want to have to deal with setting up a remote server somewhere in Pheonix or someplace else with an actual information infrestructure, but I would be interested in donating to one.

ARMA 2 is already one of the most networking-heavy games in existence, so adding more to it and expecting lighter network load seems foolish :P
