Fancypants,

Make sure you have the latest version installed on your computer, make sure you launch CO and then choose a server with less than 35/50 as right now the full(or nearly full servers) can sometimes give you that loading bug. You have to quit out of it and try again, but use a diff server.

I'm doing a complete reinstall of the mod now.
On side note, I popped into the Armory to make sure it wasn't a problem with Arma. The "hunter" challenge came up... I suggest everyone tries this, it's incredibly funny... And gross.

I'm just trying as a test with a version got from sixupdater and it's still just doing the loading screen. Probally still working on shit or I royally screwed something with my mod install somehow.

The reinstall worked for me. Try it.
To bad that I have End of Course Exams tomorrow.
Also, I was thinking about a DFC server. ShackTac has a password locked one, so the Devs may give us one too. Though, someone will need to provide the rig and internet + plus maybe give the Devs access to the computer too.

Q: Can I host a DayZ Server?

A: Send as a email to dayzdevteam@gmail.com if your server has these broad requirements and wish to be run 24/7:
Windows OS (only tested on Windows Server 2008)
4GB RAM
Dual Core CPU (Quad recommended)
10Mbps down, 5Mbps up (considered a minimum for ~25 players, can spike well above)
Able to run the custom HIVE console EXE application
RDP for DayZ staff so updates can be self applied. Alpha is a very rough time, 10 updates van be released in an hour
MySQL (currently not used, but in Beta/Release each server will run its own DB)

Flailing people to death with empty socks, though, that takes a lot of effort. Less so if the sock's made out of something interesting, but generally quite difficult.

Edit: I can get some servers working now. So long as I'm not launching through sixupdater. Everything SEEMS to run fine though it's probally too dark to play properly. I shot a few zombies before SOMETHING killed me. Might of been a lag spike making a zombie I thought I shot hit me or something.

If you had light around you, most probably a sniper, also for the OP we should add a list of steam user for those who want to add up others.

Funny thing about when I died was I was actually indoors. Nothing around at all. I just fell over and it told me I had died. Assuming something involving lag happened given I saw a weird hourglass symbol for a bit. Pretty much no light either.

Also as far as I know the servers are STILL having problems. I'm wondering if they accidentally broke something.

Double post but it's important.

1.4.9 came out a few minutes ago and fixes the loading issue. However it appears several servers are popping on and offline.

Make sure to download the new dayz_code.rar from the mediafire page guys. It wasn't on sixupdater last I checked.

So I hitched a ride yesterday, and dude ran out of gas at a factory, and I logged out due to boredom (zombies were outside and none of us dared to exit). Logged in again today, shortly after 1.4.9 is released, continued north along the coastline after the factory; went into some close encounters with zombies in zombie infested towns (some close calls). I saw a sheep but lacked a hunting knife, damn it, really needed that meat for blood replenishment. Nevertheless, I stumbled into a barn, and there was a WINCHESTER in it, so I dropped my empty CZ550 for the Winchester, as well as picking up the ammunition found with it. There was another CZ550 in the barn, with ammo for it, but I ignored it. At last, my collection of slugs and a pellet has finally come to use, with my popping a slug into the lone zombie near the barn, feeling like a boss.

OH YEAH.

Ok, arma is finally done downloading, getting the mod now.

So, where do I put the mod if I have arma 2 on steam?

Steam/steamapps/common/arma 2 operation arrowhead/@dayz/addons

you have to first create the @dayz and in that addons folders. Make sure you fully unzip the mod files into the addons folder and then when you launch Arma2 OA from steam, make sure you right click it and select 'launch combned operations'

I think that's it, but there are directions in both the OP and on the website

Yeah, steam too. The website said I had to run ArmA 2 before downloading OA so I deleted OA, and tried to re-download. Now it says OA is still installed, but won't start.

You don't have to INSTALL arma 2 first. You have to RUN arma 2 first.

Make sure you're reading all the directions right dude, that's a pretty serious mistake. Just check if it's really installed or not. Reinstall anyway though, that doesn't sound good.

AND DO SOME OF THE OA TUTORIALS BEFORE YOU PLAY. Asking for simple control issues is pretty much an invitation to be shot on sight since they'll rightly assume you don't know what you're doing.

you need to start Arma 2 1 time before installing Arma 2: OA otherwise Steam does not install Arma 2: OA inside the A2 folder!

Ok, all is well now. I rebooted and it disappeared from my installed games list. Re-downloading now.
