Y'knw, I've never really put much thought into it...

But now I'm wondering how people here visualize and what they think of as my 'voice'...

And reading this thread has made me consider changing my avatar back to the dancing kitty...

You sound like you're shivering from cold to me. Mainly because of the aforementioned dancing kitty.

I tend to think of people as looking and sounding like generic people right around the 20-year mark, with gender being based on avatar.
Basically, like me but without the neckbeard and/or female.

Except for Toonyman, I imagine him as a cross between Light Yagami and a lolcat, all the time.
And Aqizzar is a stern, heroic-chinned uncle that burns your dirty magazines and tells you he is very disappointed in you. (I'm not sure why I have this image.)

And anybody with dwarf in their name is a dwarf.

Aw, what?  Dude, it's your stern, heroic-chinned dad who burns your dirty magazines, which your uncle gave you in the first place.  I wish I had siblings just so I could be the cool uncle.  Which should tell you my stance on dirty magazines.

I'll save people the trouble of guessing my voice.

I usually associate people's looks with their pictures from the photo thread, their avatar, or wild guesses. (In that order.) Usually people just have an associated color to me, though. I don't visualize a person while reading a post, I visualize that person's personality and the colors associated with that in my mind. (I have a bit of synesthesia. Feelings are colors, numbers are shapes, etc.) I almost never have a voice for someone, unless I've heard them speak. (And even then, I only read quotes in that voice. Not normal sentences.)

Examples: Truean is a bright violet parabola with some swirls of gold. Aqizzar is a green block, with a sturdy countenance. Toonyman is orange and red, and is somewhat elliptical. Vector is all sorts of colors on a checkerboard.

Does avatar color have any influence over it? Am I green, for example?

(I have a bit of synesthesia. Feelings are colors, numbers are shapes, etc.)
I wouldn't call it outright synesthesia, but most numbers have an associated color and taste for me. It's weird about how it's categorized, though. For example, 4, 14, 40-49, 400-499 and such are all some form of green and green-associated flavors like lime. Why is 4 so green? Dammed if I know.

@MSH - Yeah, somewhat. Mainly due to large groupings, though. Or in the case of Toonyman, his avatars used to be almost universally wearing Kamina glasses, and thus many people who are wacky have some warm colors to them.

Yup, randomly inserting a sense where it doesn't belong will do that. (On the other hand, it was damn useful when I was learning addition. 3+5? Yeah, just stick the outcropping from the 3 into the gap in the 5, and then they make a smooth 8!)

There's always the novelty value. It may also be that there are people who prefer holding physical paper rather than looking at an electronic screen, and that would also explain why newspapers aren't completely dead yet.
