Problem is that carp's mouth have no acid resistance, so in that way we'll hurt ourself
Could cover the inside in ant chitin, which I suppose has more acid resistance.

Mucus glands, like in stomachs with acid glands ? Or hollow, fanglike teeth so we inject acid like snakes inject venom ?

Lets go mucus glands because we currently can only resize/relocate things we already have DNA for, and seeing as how we have not eaten a snake (yet), we don't have the DNA for fangs. Also make sure we can turn off mucus production if necessary, so we don't choke on mucus, and only start to produce it before we eat along with the acid.

I'm pretty sure we would need to consume somthing with that trait to get that trait (I'm talking about both traits)

Maybe carp stomachs come with mucus glands.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

First you decide to make some more antfish, in order to let them defend you. Then, you decide to change your own form, and go into a slumber for some time, having the antfish guard you. When you reawake you find out that they are all still alive. By the stance of the sun you can find out the transformation took about half a day. You decide that maybe spending some time looking for food at the bottom of the pool might be a good idea. Carps are bottom feeders afterall. You manage to scrounge up quite a lot of small frogs and insects. Your followers are much less succesfull.

((Well that went fast. I'm going to increase rolls for large creatures by factor ten now to rebalance things.)
A. Attack water insects: Good source of food, might be attacked by larger fish. Try to get food: High gain, quite a large risk. Chaotic
B. Eat weeds: Low energy return.  +-Safe
C. Attack large fish. High risk, high gain
D. Look at the bottom of the pool for burrowed animals like frogs and such. (Energy intensive, might gain nothing)
E. Other

Name:  Deoxys
Biomass: 11.000 (100 Antfishes(60)(Attack:+2, defense:+1 Acid attack(E:40/60N:30/30). ))
Energy: 9.000/10.000 (actions cost one or more energy)
Nutrients: 5000/5.000 (Turned into energy. Partly returned when said energy is used for actions, but not for transformations)
Abilities: DNA assimilation, splitting, Minor DNA modification (Can change size of parts, can try to modify DNA)
Current look:  Antfish (5 cm long, 1 high, 1 broad)
Status: Near a pond
Spoiler: Current form (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: Dna library (click to show/hide)

Clones chematics for GM reference: (Doubt I'll need them)
Spoiler: Antfish (click to show/hide)

Hm, no useful frog DNA? :( Unlucky roll?

Anyway, time to rule the pond and I propose a safe route this time. Let's prepare for a grand attack next day

1) Lay 400 antfish eggs, somewhere in the weed
2) Antfishs guard eggs
3) Carp eats weed to restore lost energy\nutrients but stays close to the eggs, and helps if antfishs attacked by something serious

Hopefully, next day, with 500 antfish  escorts we may start a huge hunt on other fishes

Kinda. Anyway, I might need to rework the dice system another time. Not because it's unbalanced, but because I'm currently rolling with d1000 's and such.

Anyway, if this idea comes through, I'd probably do a timeskip to the next day, unless something goes wrong.

Weeds are safer and it's easier to stay near eggs

Considering the eggs are guarded by a swarm of 100 small, very persistent creatures with acid bites... I don't think any creature in the lake would bother to risk it's life to feed on them, especially when they are plenty of other food sources in the lake, much less guarded.

Path of least energy/risk spent for best energy/food gain and all.
