Quick question / Thorn in my foot
« on: April 20, 2012, 12:35:22 pm »

So i've been noticing over the past few weeks people talking about their awesome migrants with hundreds of kills and it made me realize something.  I have been playing Dwarf Fortress all this time not knowing how to find individual dwarf kill lists.  So my question is simple, can someone please give me the correct keyboard sequence to view dwarf kills?

(u) menu, then (v) I believe to bring up thoughts and preferences. Believe it's in there.

Either ‘u’ to scroll the units list then ‘v’ for view creature, then ‘k’.
Or ‘v’ to look through units on the map and then ‘z’to view creature, then ‘k’.

‘k’ for kills only appears if a dwarf actually has any. The view creature window will look like this:

Much appreciation for the replies, this would explain why I could not find it when I was searching through my original 7 (lazy bastards don't kill enough).

As far as I can tell, the original 7 are not taken from civilization populations, but generated from scratch when you embark.  They won't have kill lists.  The dwarves that arrive in later immigration waves may.

If they arrive with five thousand kills or something stupid like that, it's probably a vampire by the way so best to isolate them to check etc.

That should be a new type of project, making a rug design in dwarf fortress (With accurate coloring)

If it's five thousand elves, humans and dwarves, then yes, it's probably a vampire.
If it's five thousand peach faced lovebirds, it's probably just a hunter.

Have them killed. Nothing solves a problem quite as effectively as simply having it killed.

This is a side-effect of dwarven animal training (hit animal with hammer until it forgets that it hates you, then lovingly cuddle it).

I don't know why they're German.

Peace-face lovebird men are German now, eh? Alongside trying to invade your fortresses?

Just don't let them escape and infiltrate dwarven society, that could cause havoc.
