Lornar's Pass sucks.  I skipped most of it, just rushing through to get high enough for Dredgehaunt Cliffs which isn't as bad.  Henge of Denravi seems to have regained supremacy in WvW, we completely dominated the last cycle to the point that GoM and NSP complained on the forums about us.

My Ranger is almost level 50.  Is it worth it to buy the cultural weapons and stuff before 80?  I bought them and they're already beginning to show their age.  Greens are bumping right up around their power level.

Or wait, no.  I'm not using cultural yellows, I'm using hte pirate yellows from Sharkmaw Cave.

You realize there's a portal in Lion's Arch that goes straight to the Black Citadel, right?
No. I did not. I feel like an idiot now.

You had some fun trekking, at least. I went to all the way to the edge of Orr with my level 3 ranger because there's a cave there that has a bunch of pets in it. I had a couple of high level escorts, but I still died like thirty times. It was all good fun.

That's...comitted. Must really like those pets, would almost take you for an ogre.  :P

Made me another character, asura elementalist. I don't know why I waited so long with playing an asura, if you can see past the obnoxious siliness and constant jesting there really is a brilliant take on academic society. Got your honest  to good geniuses to corrupt pupil abusing researchers, bright young minds to dorky fantasisers and everything in between. Love it and love the crazy napoleon complex even more.

Also taking the oppertunity to show off some pics during exploration, since I finished that graphic mod some time ago. : :)

Not gonna lie, I mostly did it because I wanted a pig and there's a guaranteed pig there. Otherwise I think you have to get a rare spawn in Kryta.

There's juvenile pigs on the southmost supply camp on every WvW borderlands map(Not eternal battlegrounds) as well.  Even if yer side doesn't own the camp it's easy to sneak in and grab it.

Effortless if yer used to WvW.  Easier than getting to outer Orr at lv 7 otherwise.

I also made an Asura Elementalist.  Can't stop chugging altohol.  Now I have three characters, The Soothslayer (Ranger), The Traumaturge (Elementalist), and The Charms Dealer (Mesmer).  Fuck yeah.  I would have a necromancer but The Hexecutioner is taken >:C

I like ele a lot.  Compared to ranger it's pretty tough but hella fun.  D/D has ridiculous mobility and it's fun to bust out crazy combos.  Air, 3, 2, 5, 4, Fire, 4, 3, 5, Earth, 4, 5 is one of my favorites against enemies tough enough to actually survive the whole thing.  If they're still alive I summon my axe and 54321.  In English that would be summon a lightning shield, zap the enemy, blow him back, fly to him on a lightning bolt, summon a ring of fire, dodge away leaving a fire trail, turn around and blast him with a cone of fire, knock him down with an earthquake that interacts with the fire I laid down to grant me bonus damage on the coup de grace, an Earth version of Nunu's ult in league of legends.  Slow everyone in a huge radius and then blow them all up with huge damage.

Asura are cool, mine's a panda-looking Lady Asura.  Also the Asura quests and zones also have a lot of Skritt and I love Skritt.  If you could give coins to Skritt and make them happy I would be perpetually out of money.

Speaking of money, I'm taking no crafting skills and selling all of my mats, planning to save up the money and craft 50-80 because Elementalists don't have the best time leveling.  If you ignore crafting but still gather and just sell everything you make so much fucking money, it's ridiculous.  I had 40s by level 10.
EDIT:  I just found out that Asura can't do the Skritt racial sympathy quest.  My life is basically over right now.

Out of curiosity, what server is everyone on? I just transferred from Eredon Terrace to Hedge of Denvari after I learned that ET was second to last in WVW.

They just released this amazing trailer for the Super Adventure Box, maybe this will be the kick that gets me back into the game!

This made me crack up. I'm going to go watch it again.
Edit: not quite as funny the second time, but still great.

I think we are all over the place basically.
Ehmry Bay was our original focal point.  It doesn't really matter unless you do WvW at least semi-regularly since we if any of us are inclined, we could do dungeons/PvE stuff together.  I believe SPvP too.

Ehmry Bay is a middle tier server, it has been kicking between 4 and 5 the past few months.  Too good for the 5th tier, not good enough when we hit the 4th tier.

3rd week in 5th tier, most players in EBay are now screwing around and doing random coordinated things for the lulz.  One that was surprisingly effective was 'tree tactics'.  Ball up in the middle of a tree and bait the enemy to come at us.
Hilariously effective, especially when they trickle in to die 2 by 2...  Mind you, there were +30 of us doing it.  (The whole time[+3 hours] of really doing nothing important, with our defacto coordinators/leadership, we kept our lead on the map.)

Basically, the the same deal as Ebay's current mortal enemy, Maguuma, they get kicked between the 3rd and 4th tier a lot.

I guess that means HoD isn't on its way back up after all.  how many people are on Ehmry?

And dungeons and other stuff aren't server-dependent?

Nope, you can party with each other and guest over if you have the id.####.  (Add to friend-list or join same guild.)  I've managed to join random people of other servers in Lion's Arch overflow for dungeons a few months ago.

EBay is considered very high capacity or something like that.  Usually, often, WvW is not full.  Primetime, it may become full.  And a few maps are always full at WvW reset. (Friday 8:30PM - 11PM EST)
As for the giant monsters that drop loot events, some of them can make the map full quite easily during primetime.  Lion's Arch can see overflow at times too.

Primetime = 7PM EST - 11PM EST

You can guest onto any server you want (theres a weekly limit on how many diffrent servers you can be on, but no limit to how many times you can go) and while guesting you can do anything a normal member of that server can do with only a couple exceptions.

  • You can't enter WvW while guesting.  This is the only significant diffrence
  • You retain your home server's WvW bonuses, you don't gain the guested into bonuses
  • You retain your home server's guild benefits.  This is important as besides guild chat and emblem, guilds cross server are effectively different guilds per server.  Upgrades do not cross servers.  You may still be playing with the same guild but they may have different upgrades researched.
