Nation :: France
Captain's Name :: Robere De Squaa
Flag Ship :: Le Mon Frere
World Style :: Real

Sorry. France is taken.

Players:
France: LordBucket as himself, aboard the flagship Aquitaine, vote for random world
Spain: Azthor as captain Alfonso, aboard the flagship Trinidad, vote for a real world
Portugal: USEC_OFFICER as captain Pêro Escobar, aboard The Vela India, vote for a real world
England: Doomblade187 as captain Roland, aboard the flagship Honour, vote for a real world

3 votes for real world, real world it is.

Holland is still available. Llamainaspitfire, want Holland?
Opps your right, sorry bout that, for some reason I always get Holland and France mixed up...
I will take that it will be Holland so time to get this thing started...

EDIT:: I would say, if it wasn't for the fact it is telling me that the Trinidad for a Ship's name is not allowed. Looks like you can't use real names for things. Oooook.... Sorry Azthor, can I get a new Name for a ship. Odd...

Llamainaspitfire will probably want to use a different ship name too, if he's switched from France to Holland. Le Mon Frere isn't such a good name for a Dutch ship.

Weird... Trinidad & Tobago may exist in game though, which may have led the system in forbiding the name to avoid conflicts. I will go with La Trinidad then; if that does not work, feel free to insert a random name.

Yeah, Ship name should be The Dutchman if i'm Holland.
Captain name is staying the same, though.

Year 1480 - Turn 1

Well its time to start sailing into the blue. The turn order will look something like this;

Each turn I will be asking you for a few instructions. Please note though that your Flagships are Docked in Port, meaning that you can visit the port before leaving for any final details to load and unload goods. Another thing to notes is that any Offered ships are a one time buy, meaning that if you don't buy them the turn they appear, they will disappear from the offer list. Each player's turn I will pause and announce to the Player who's nation is offering the ship and let you know whats going on...

Now just to get some folks whistles wet, I will be posting what the first Turn Generally Looks like, that is for Spain though, your Starting points are at your own respective Home Port with England naturally being further north. Please do not think that I will be dividing each player turn into a new post, I would rather have it all done in one swoop, so please post your actions folk. The world is generally the same 'shape' as the real world as you can no doubt see here with Spain and its fellow Nations located in their general location of the world, so name a country that you wish to travel to and I will set the quickest path there, mind though tiny isle nations are not always there...

Turn Suggestion :: Refit your ship in port before you leave. Figure out how your going to handle your turns and how quickly you want to start building plantations and/or mines after you convert your first village. 2500D isn't enough for anything...

That's weird, I'm pretty sure Sevilla was on the south side of Europe, facing the Gibralter Strait.

Seville is a port city and the capital of Andalusia; while that means it is, indeed, located in the southeastern  Iberian Peninsula, it is worthy noting that it is a river port, roughly 80 km from the Atlantic Ocean. It was Spain's foremost center of trade during the age of discovery and, at the time, the single largest town in the nation, dwarfing Madrid, Toledo and Barcelona.

The starting location for Spain is probably Santander, in Cantabria.

Seville being placed in the Basque Country's general location is quite weird, yes.

As exciting as the geography lesson is, I think Nevyn is waiting for your turn submission. You're Spain.

Meh, matters little matters not. The game moves forward dispite the creator's mistake, not like I can go back to 1994 and say "Hey Seville is on the South of Spain not North."

Now lets see those actions everyone, all at once or at least get them in before your turn on the list, I can at least do it in order or all together, depends on how fast you get them in. Also...

PLEASE remember that the world is not 100% accurate, most Major landmasses such as Africa, America and Asia are there but smaller isles and such may or may not be, for example the Caribbeans are there but they are tiny. Cuba may or may not be there and so forth. Send me in the direction of some of these places please do not be upset if they are not actually there...

Can you go over the "refit your ship" part in depth?

Can you go over the "refit your ship" part in depth?
Refitting you ship can allow you to change its current wares. You start off with a few useful amounts of goods on you ship, such as;
a sizeable crew,
enough food/water for a few turns or so,
2 cannons and 3 rounds of cannon/powder,
5 units of Wood/Sails which will help fix your ship at a slow rate when damaged,
20 Trinkets to dangle infront of villagers.
and 2500 Doubloons.

Adding and removing things to this list (a better version found under the ship spoiler in the first page) can help you expand quickly. For example, at the moment you may only have enough trinkets to woo 1 or 2 villagers due to the required amount being random from single to double digit numbers. You don't have enough Doubloons on board to build any kinds of money making Plantations or Mines unless you transfer some over, the list of cost is on the first page too. Unless you think your going to target one another straight away, you could even get rid of the cannons and their rounds to make space and net a few extra doubloons, though you may wish to pm that info just in case...

Having downloaded the game to get an idea of how this works, I think I can safely say you're not giving enough information for people to make decisions about their turns.

Suggestion: make a list of all the various options, how much trade goods/cannons/soldiers/ships etc. cost, how much cargo space things take up, etc.

People can recruit cavalry, mercenaries, catapults and crossbowmen. But nobody would know that from your previous description. They can invest money in ship and/or weapons technology. Nobody would know that from your description. They can buy trade goods: wood, cloth, sugar, etc. But again, nobody would know this from your descriptions.

You've given an example of what someone might do, but there's just not enough information for people do anything but basically say "ok, yeah...I guess I do what you suggest."
