Goblins. That's seriously what I use to keep my entire fort clothed since dwarves can wear used goblin stuff without any problems.

It would be brutally difficult and probably won't work. In other words, it's absolutely dwarven!

Your fortress fell because there weren't enough clothes to go around?
Hmm, here I was believing that if there were enough "naked" dwarves then the others would think it was some sort of fashion trend and would be perfectly content with being naked.

I put a farmer workshop on repeat process plants, two looms, and a clothing workshop on repeat make tunic, trousers, shoes, cloak, and hood. It just keeps cycling through the work orders forever.

Then every once in a while when the clothing stockpiles get full, I chuck it into the atom smasher or give it away to traders. I don't care if its half good clothing and half tattered clothing. Since my fort is making new clothes all the time, even if I toss all clothing in the fortress I'll have new stuff ready in a few seconds anyways.

Similar problem, I'm building five additional clothiers shops and another rope reed field to keep up.

How do you need five clothing workshops?

I have a fort with over 200 dorfs, and a single clothing workshop, two looms, single farming workshop, and a 10x10 field dedicated to pig tails works just fine. I'm actually producing too much clothing and so need to get rid of it periodically by tossing it into the garbage pits or using traders to haul away my dirty laundry for me.

Pig Tails.  If you start farming pig tails (40 seeds on embark) when you start farming plump helmets, you'll have well over 300 cloth by year 3, when the tantrum spirals start.  Or buy it from the caravans, that works too.

Dwarves only need Shirt, Shoes, and Trousers to consider themselves clothed.  So if you have 100 dwarves by year 3, you'll need 300 cloth to make them all outfits that will keep them happy for at least 2 years. (shoes are automagically made in pairs)  Gender is irrelevant to fashion, apparently.

Personally, I think the "wear out" rates are a little high in 34.07, and/or adamantine clothing should never wear out.  Just my humble opinion, though.

Clothing can act like cheap armor. Its wise to invest in hoods, caps, and robes. These all cover the head, so your civilians might be saved by being brained during a fistfight.

I imagine you started production early, I neglected clothing and I'm on the verge of a tantrum spiral with babies quickly growing into naked angry children if the supply can't catch up with the demand. I need to crank out clothes nonstop or the kids are going to go apeshit.

Goblin Claus brings plenty of clothing for my fortress. If only Human Claus brought clothes that fit I'd be rolling in more clothing than I know what to do with.

I always bring two farmers by virtue of the textiles industry and farming (managed to accrue 1800 units of booze in the first year!), and tend to bring 60 pig tail seeds with me on embark. I find that helps a bit.
