My soldier won't wear her armor, i have her set to be in uniform even when inactive, but even if active she won't put it on. the only way she'll wear it is if i move her squad somewhere, and even then sometimes not.

is there a place where this is all clearly explained? i'm used to just using traps and this is really confusing and difficult.

What did you do exactly?
Create squad, choose "Melee" squad, add some dwarfs, set squad to active.

that site didn't do much for me.
i did finally get her to wear the armor when i set up a training barracks and assigned her to active/training.
is there a thread somewhere that deals with this well? i tried searching but i'm not very effective with it.

what i really don't understand is why when set to wear uniform while inactive would have her not wearing her uniform.

sorry the wiki isn't doing it for you, but it is sort of the sum-total of the wisdom of these boards, probably 90% of us learned squad management in the first place either there, or trial and error, or

(the latter is great but may be a few game versions out of date)

i suspect that your problem is that you never had her set to active/training at first.  she won't go out of her way to get gear if she's never been activated, the 'wear uniform while inactive' just means she won't take it off.

she doesn't have any of those three jobs, and the battle axe wasn't imported so no equipment switch problems i can think of.

there's somebody else with this same problem in this forum so i guess i'm not the only one.

is this a bug? should it be recorded?

does anyone else have this problem?

I gotta ask what version, because I was just noticing the opposite in the latest, I dont have to Station or activate a squad to get them to wear armor, they just get dressed.  It makes me happy.
