you could try to get your wealth up very, very fast to get huge sieges early on, mod in diplomats and get war with humans and elves for extra bones. If the reaction takes stacks, try to capture as many as possible instead of just killing and toss them from 20 z-levels or so for maximum splatter, and ofcourse allow butchering sentients to get their bones faster.

Butchering sentients is in, and I do intend to brutally capture and murder human and elven traders as soon as I can. I've been reading a bit in the modding forums and it sounds like the only other way increase invasions outside of that is to add more civs. If that's the case I have to do that modding before world generation, so I'll have to delay things until I can get that figured out.

mod in diplomats and get war with humans and elves for extra bones.

What exactly in involved with modding in diplomats?

Is the command I'm looking for "fixdiplomats"?

I can't test all this stuff from work so I'm more or less making a to-do list here.

I'm hoping I can accomplish everything without modding to game to the point of unrecognizability. Accomplishing a megaproject with ridiculous levels of modding takes to fun out it.

I'm going to go with the seated throne design (more designs will follow if it is successful) and I'm going to be shooting for 50-70 levels of height. I'd like to carve the throne out of the mountainside, but I'm not sure I've ever seen a mountain 50-70 levels tall in DF, have any of you guys?

http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=6180 Here you go again - I re-uploaded it with everything fixed. Bones will show up in the Bars/Blocks --> Blocks:Stone/Clay menu for stockpiles, they're called "blocks" now (sounds better), they won't let you use vermin/fish, and you won't have to generate a new world. Interestingly, though, item names for the old bars don't change... leading me to believe that this might be part of fps death... DF stores the full name of absolutely every single item instead of numbering it and calling a function to take it from a list... but that's off-topic.

Getting DFHack will do you some good. Not only does it come with stonesense (if you download that version), but the fixdiplomats command will let you start a war with the elves, if you so desire. Humans, too.

And yes, mountains can be that tall in a single embark. You just may have to scout a bit. :P

EDIT: Yes, you'll have to gen a new world, sorry about that. Otherwise you'll still use vermin remains, it would seem...

Thanks, I'll use your files, but I'm going to add a reaction the modders suggested to sacrifice dwarves for bone bars. It'll just generate the bars and a short lived object that'll kill em. Something like this:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Since this will let me turn migrants into bone bars I shouldn't need to mod in any more civs, I'll just get a war rolling with elves and humans (using DFhack should help this). I think I need to make sure that sieges trigger on wealth instead of population if I'm killing off migrants though.

If you haven't started yet I have an idea. You should cover the skeleton in armor of a dark material eg. obsidian, (bonus for casted armor) black bronze or black diamonds (impossible). Try get as much blood on the statue as you can.

I may do decorations like that at some point, but for now I'm going to stick to the basic bone structure first. If I can get things moving fairly smoothly I'll probably be building a few of these giant bone fortresses.

I'm having trouble getting the reaction to kill the dwarf on the sacrifice. The reaction just puts an item called "rock" in the shop, I'm not sure what's going wrong here. I'm not sure if the Judgement_stone is insufficiently deadly or if it isn't appearing and is instead putting in a placeholder.

Don't know how mine was different, but yours works. I'll have to make sure there is a designated sacrifice room, because there's a bit of a radius on that explosion, or so it appeared.
