My wife, when we were still just getting into the "dating phase", offered me some salmiakki. She told me to keep chewing, that it gets better. I married the damn liar anyways.  :P

The only thing I think of to compare the flavor to is if you took a Goodyear radial tire and put salt on it. I love black licorice. Salmiakki is not black licorice, it's vulcanized rubber. Salty vulcanized rubber.
But... It's so tasty! Can't...Resist...

*Munches on a ~500g bag, of which ~90% is salt liquorice*  :o
*da_nang looses a roaring laughter, fell and terrible!*

This is why Finns are terrifying. They chew salted rubber pellets as a snack, and they enjoy it.

But it really is good, you just need to get used to the taste and you will love it! Now I need to go get some...

This pure mountain spring water is indispensable. Literally. I'm out of paper cups.

eggs + any spices anything you can find in your kitchen.

This, so much. Start scrambling some eggs and throw in whatever else you have on hand, and it will almost always be delicious.

I tried something similar with lentils.  It ... didn't go as well as I'd hoped.

I can't think of anything recent, although I know there should be some strange ass things I've had, but the best one I can remember is from childhood:
-bread
-mayo
-lettuce
-doritos
-gummy bears

It must have been good, because I remember doing it more than once.

I think the only way lentils are good are if you mash them up into a paste and add them to something else.

Lentils are more of a base than anything else; they're edible alone, but you need some beans, rice, or something to make them taste like something.

dear lord... is this the dwarven kitchen recipies central now?

I can remember seeing something along the lines of 'an oyster, sour cream and a splash of tabasco'

I think I vomited into my mouth when I heard that.

That sounds delicious.

I will continue to be unclear regarding what "that" is.
