So I like to give my dwarves custom profession names to keep it all neat and tidy. As it so happens, my soldiers are given the custom profession name "Soldier". Unfortunately, this tends to make combat reports extremely confusing when more than one dwarf is involved, since then everything is named "The Soldier does X" and I can no longer tell who is who.

Does anybody know if there's a way to make combat reports more clear without giving everybody a unique custom profession name?

Alphabetical order like Soldier A, B or Soldier 1, 2, 3 e.t.c.
Ranking (cpt. Leightenant. Recruit e.t.c.)
Or just put their first name at the end.

Personally I give all of my Dwarves profession names based on when they arrived.
Starting 7 Dwarves = First wave
1st Migrants = 2nd Wave
2nd Migrant waves = 3rd Wave

And so on, carrying through to other Forts.

Its nice and readable when picking through lists of dwarves. It allows you to organize them precisely in therapist.
