What would be nice is if you could tell a computer program the names of the characters you wanted, how many scenes you had, and how long you wanted each scene to be, and it would write these scenes for you, so that each character had time on-stage and time off-stage. Then I wouldn't have to write scripts. I suspect it would be fairly easy to do, too. Mostly you'd just have to make it so no more than about 5 people were on stage at a time, no fewer than 2 were on stage at a time (for some definition of at a time, since we can have them walk on and off at will), and make sure that most pairs of characters got a few decent exchanges of uninterrupted dialogue for at least 6 or 7 lines. But guess what? I can't code.

Followup fix sent for scene IV. I missed that Ann joined in the dialogue. Now fixed.

And Yet Another Thing

The play, of course, needs a title, which should be more or less completely meaningless. Submit a title having nothing to do with the script you wrote in the following form:

<title 1>:
or, <title 2>.

Random and meaningless allusions (Biblical or otherwise) and things that sound deep are encouraged... for example, you could submit...

Beyond the Valley of Darkness: or, Tassels on Garments
In Satan's Drive-Thru: or, the Wine-Dark Hot Tub
When We Were Uncles: or, Great Conservative Insights

After that, the game master will mix and match a first title with a second title.

We still need players for Eric, Juan, Ann and Gwendolyn! If you think this could be at all interesting, I encourage you to sign up.

I'm game. I'll take, say, Gwendolyn.

I'd almost go for having the last three parts filled in with knowledge of the other scripts, or else I think that it may end up overly disjointed.

I will claim Eric on the assumption that I can make him something stupid. I will do the actual work tomorrow.
