Well the very unique part of the game was the fact that mythos creatures could just toss around regular units.

Name the number of modern games that have that?

The last game I remembered that really did that was Black and White 2.

$24 is a bit steep for a game I have on my computer, right now, fully functional.

But I still may get it, just because multiplayer is a pain in the ass to get working on the original version.

The steam version is currently $7.50 within the next ~20 hours. Might pick it up, since I never played the Titan expansion.

I don't think I really liked the Titans expansion, or rather, I didn't like how the titans themselves couldn't be turned off for a match. Maybe it was how the computer used them but I found them to be a bit tiresome. The other things in the expansion are fine and fun though and you can see the early steps for the resource system Creative Assembly expanded on in "Age of Empires III".

Aah yes, this game was dope. I want to download it again. It was like AoE2 but with noticeable differences between civilizations, and god powers and myth units.

The funniest thing in it was totally that Egyptian campaign map where it was a chase scene, and you needed to put some Osiris relic (or something) inside your base, and you had an enemy base periodically spitting soldiers.

Then you typed the infinite meteors/tornados/lightning storms cheat code.

OOoooh yes.

also this game had the greatest cheat codes ever. You could play in night with blood-water, like the gods cursed the land also.

Also laser superhero bears.

Yea, it was really a great game. Not sure about the remake, didnt played it. Is it buggy like some other HD remakes?

I did end up buying it when it was on sale (I'll bet it goes on sale again for the Steam winter sale), and the only bug I've experienced with ~30 hours of play is that sometimes units get stuck in buildings being constructed. Not sure if that was in the original.
Also, I've apparently already put over 30 hours in. Goddamnit.

One of the things that I can't get right (that I've never gotten right in any classic RTS) is playing aggressively. I've just been practicing on random maps with moderate/hard AI, and even if I'm playing Norse I rarely have success sending out harassment if I'm trying to manage the economy at the same time. It's like, half the time I feel like just playing as an Egyptian and rushing Mythic tech while the AI's still entering Heroic, but I don't think that'd ever work if I were playing against humans.

It features what is apparently the slowest camel cart in Egypt.

So.

I am up to the fourth egyptian mission, the one where Amanra must rescue Arkantos/Ajax.

Hard difficulty.

And Petsuchos apparently have 50 attack, with a very nice range. Holy fuck damn. And 20 crush damage.

I will make a laser crocodile army and it will be glorious. And post images in this thread.
