Actually that new campaign was available for download free on the official site back in the original. It's about dwarves!

I'm still happy since I was never able to get the Titans expansion.

Same, I've never played the expansion.

I think I'll search for the discs and reinstall it. I always liked playing maps with many islands to colonize, but unfortunately the AI was never good enough to accommodate that. If they fix that and make other AI improvements, I think that alone would be enough for me to buy it (and also for playing the expansion).

Awesome. I tried installing the old versions (still have them around!) on my laptop, but they don't run too well; the water's all jacked up and black except for the edges and waves. Watching with great interest (even though I suck at RTS), especially if there's modding!

Definitely to big of a price tag for something I already own but with a facelift. I will probably watch it and wait for it to go on sale as things on steam are wont to do.

I had fun with the original AoMythology in LAN multiplayer. This could be good.

I liked the original, but I'm not sure I'm gonna buy this again for graphic update.

This was my favorite game as a kid! Its what inspired my intense interest in the ancient world and the Strategy game genre in general!

Hopefully this one will support multiplayer, since apparently the servers are down in the original.

If they aren't, then tech support lied to me.

I had to pirate a new copy of AoM because I lost my original disc, and I can confirm that the servers don't seem to work. It was able to connect to the internet, but when I tried to create an account it said "ESO is not accepting new accounts at this time". However, I know that there are ways to get around this. This group on reddit seems to use external methods, but I haven't tried it so I don't know if there are still a decent number of games going on.

The new one is confirmed to support multiplayer, along with improved spectator tools. Not sure about custom game support.

The price tag's a bit high. $30, with a 20% discount on pre-orders bringing it down to $24. There's also a 4-pack for $90 $72 or $18 per copy.

I'll probably still buy it, for the nostalgia factor at least. If multiplayer isn't fatally buggy, there'll be a burst of new players at the beginning (which will probably be the best time for casual MP gaming!).

If you want multiplayer there's always GameRanger, a fairly easy and reliable way of playing over the internet, regardless of your game version (pirated or otherwise).

And yeah, they're offering too little for far too much money. Waiting on a sale to maybe get it. Since this whole thing they're doing, reskinning old classics instead of making new games is a rather shitty way of milking your customers without putting in much effort.

But I guess that's what you get when you shut down one of the best and most iconic development studios as far as the RTS genre goes.

Yep, would definitely wait for it to go down in price a lot. Still good news (can't be worse than them not doing anything with it), and I'm excited, but only after it goes on sale.

I downloaded Gameranger, but all the games I'm getting are being hosted in south america ... this is when I regret failing high school Spanish ;_;

I loved age of mythology.

While price is 10 dollars a bit high (should be 20 or 25 at most)

It does come with a steam works (fully mod compatible) and easy to get into multiplayer.

Also. Like aoe2 overwrote my old windows 7 install (I was getting a new PC anyway) I prefer getting gog.com or newer games. Remember having vista and age of mythology overwrote some stuff. Aoe2 was worse though. It installed things to my system folder. This was CDs BTW if that matters.

Heh, I miss this game. This was a great casual game. I used to play this with my brother, for the fun of having minotaurs throw each other around, multiheaded hydras, mad lightning pharoahs.

The new version seems not worth the price since I can't tell the difference between the trailer and the AoM I used to play. I'd probably play this multiplayer against another noob who's just messing around with it, but not against the hardcore skilled players. Still, it's a pretty damn good game after all the RTSes that have come and gone.
