Colony ships are on the agenda but we aren't building any yet.

At the moment there are surprisingly few available systems within range of our colony ships.

Turn 119

This update starts off with a bang.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
I was surprised to discover that the Romulans and Cardassians have signed a war pact. They simultaneously declared war, much to our convenience. The Romulans are ripe for destruction and the Cardassian systems are too far from our territory to be a threat. Also this turn, the Grey Fleet entered Ferengi space and destroyed an outpost.

Other than the declarations of war, there's not much to report this turn. The Grey fleet is going to continue hunting for Ferengi hardware. I'm also ordering the First Destroyer Fleet to begin bombarding the Romulus system.

Turn 120

Our researchers continue to show success. We can now construct the Genesis Research Lab.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Additionally, our friends the Vulcans seem to be responding to our new war with the Romulans.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
We also received messages of support from the Zakdorn, Talarian, and Ktarian governments. Not that the message from the Ktarians mattered much, they joined our empire this turn.

Here is a look at their system.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
I've also begun building a few colony ships, one in Bolarus and another in Trill. I think we'll build 4 or 5 for now.

Turn 121

The Ferengi and Cardassians signed a friendship treaty. I suppose the Ferengi are learning better than to trust the Romulans for support. Speaking of the ever-weakening Romulans, the First Destroyer Fleet has managed to knock out all the orbital batteries around the Romulus system. We can easily destroy the system now.

The colony ship USS Morrison A completed in Bolarus. It's very close to the Benecia system, which has an as-yet-unterraformed planet, so I'm sending it there. The Selay system also needs a little terraforming, but the colony ship building in Trill will get there almost as quickly.

Turn 122

The +30% bonus to all our research from the Trill Research Committee is paying off.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
The Grey Fleet found a partially completed Ferengi outpost in the Tyrellia system. Unfortunately without a battle to fight, we can't destroy it. It's a silly quirk of the game. There's one place left to check for outposts, then we will need to come up with some new orders.

For your information. The First Destroyer Fleet is continuing to bombard Romulus, while the Unity Fleet is in orbit of Balosnee. Their orders are to intercept any ships that come near.

I'm also offering a membership proposal to the Zakdorn, it's about time for them to join us.

Turn 123

The Unity Fleet intercepted a Ferengi scout. Unfortunately it escaped without damage. The Grey Fleet, on the other hand, "intercepted" a Ferengi outpost. It lasted no longer than the last one. I'm ordering the Grey Fleet to continue roving around Ferengi space.

The USS Johnson A was built in the Trill system, and the USS Chriss A completed in Bolarus. The Johnson has been ordered to the Selay system, and the Unity Fleet is going to escort it to its destination. The Chriss is being sent to the Durenia system.

I've ordered Trill to build a further 2 colony ships, while Bolarus will build 4 troop transports. The troop transports will be used to build starbases over Sol and Romulus, unless we decide to invade their system and enslave them rather than obliterate them.

Turn 124

It's a good thing the Unity Fleet met up with the Johnson. They encountered a Ferengi scout, which the Unity Fleet destroyed.

Additionally the Zakdorn joined our ever-expanding empire.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Turn 125

The Ferengi and the Cardassians signed an affiliation treaty. That means the Cardassians can reach our systems by crossing their territory and using their shipyards.

The Grey Fleet arrived in Tyrellia again. I was hoping the Ferengi had completed their outpost so we could destroy it. They may not have any more troop transports to do the job for the time being. They have no orders at present, perhaps admiral Jarod Cain can provide some guidance.

The Sandhusky and Cortes continue to scout along the farthest reaches of our range. The First Destroyer Fleet has brought the Romulus system down to 294/355 population. The Unity Fleet is parked over Balosnee, with orders to intercept any hostile ships that approach from Ferengi territory.

The Morrison, Chriss, and Johnson are terraforming Benecia, Durenia, and Selay, respectively. Bolarus has completed 2 troop transports so far, the USS Monrovia A and the USS Rome A. Both are being sent to Sol to build a starbase. Two more are in production, while one more colony ship is being built in Trill.

I'd suggest research so we can build better spaceships, but it's up to the planetary governors, I think.

Trill and Selay are governed by me, and I'm willing to listen to the will of the people. If you say research, I say "what do other people think?".

I say to either send the fleet into exploration mode, or blockade either Ferenginar or whatever system is most convenient while looking out for Cardassian patrols and eliminating them. What is the status for Maluria?

Sometimes the description of these machines sounds almost... Too techy.

I mean quite litterally we have computers that function by having a second computer phased into another dimension allowing us to have twice the computer in the same amount of space.

Our ships can't actually reach Ferenginar at the moment. I presume it's one of the stars you can see here that are out of range of our scout ships. I'd bet it's probably the blue one 3 sectors from Deneb.

We could send the Grey Fleet to raid Tyrellia or Rochani. I don't want to raid Takara so it will be easier to bribe them later. Or we could send it around within its range to scout sectors we haven't physically visited yet. With 2 speed it'll get the job done quite quickly.

Malurian is doing well. It recently completed Federation Replicators, Private Farms, and another plasma reactor to power them. It also just reached maximum population, and with these buildings we can feed everyone without the need for any automatic farms. The current building distribution is:
  • 7 factories
  • 3 plasma reactors
  • 2 databanks
I'm pretty sure it's set to upgrade the factories at the moment.

Edit: An alternative is for the Grey Fleet to join the First Destroyer Fleet and help eliminate the Romulans.

Turn 126

This was expected.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
This wasn't.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
In shipbuilding news, the USS Boughn A completed in Trill, and is being sent to the Zadar system to begin terraforming. The USS Quebec A finished in Bolarus. This troop transport can just sit tight for a while. We can't even build starbases yet.

On the advice of Admiral Jarod Cain, I'm ordering the Grey Fleet to explore some of the unexplored sectors it can reach near Ferengi and Cardassian territory. At the moment we can't be absolutely sure of their military capabilities, but at the moment no enemy ships are in sensor range. Except a Cardassian scout, but at the moment it's inconsequential.

Finally, I noticed we have around 14000 credits at the moment. That's enough to buy an awful lot of favor with a minor race. I've decided to bribe the Sheliak into ending their pointless "war" with us and beginning to trade.

Turn 127

The Vulcans are behaving rather more aggressively than I would anticipate.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
We've also received messages from the Selay, Caldonians, Talarians, and Ktarians offering their support. Since they're all members, all this means is that they are a little less likely to respond to Ferengi bribes.

In other inconsequential news, the USS Warsaw A completed in Bolarus. This marks the completion of our 4th troop transport. It and the Quebec will remain in orbit of Bolarus until they're needed.

Turn 128

Not much to report this turn. A shipyard completed in the Zakdorn system. This has extended the range of our scouts far enough to investigate the "Alien Entity" we saw on turn 116. I'm redirecting the Sandhusky to investigate. Additionally the Grey Fleet finished checking the unexplored sectors near the Ferengi/Cardassian border. Its presence in enemy territory is only useful if it can find or destroy enemy ships. Perhaps there are some Cardassian ships in range...

The only other thing worth mentioning is that the Monrovia has begun building an outpost over Sol. The Rome will arrive to assist next turn.

Turn 129

Again, uneventful. Sol completed a lengthy factory upgrade, and has a lot of work to do to get fully developed. I'm considering building more factories and scrapping the universities in the system. It's obvious we can get our research done elsewhere in the empire.

Also the Ferengi announced that they had signed a non-aggression pact with a group called the Klingons.

Turn 130

First contact!
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
The Edo are a friendly, peaceful race who somehow managed to run afoul of the Cardassian Union. They're actively at war, and it's clear that the only reason they haven't been conquered is due to their "god". The Edo God is a spaceborne lifeform that easily dwarfs even our largest starbases. The good news is, they seem to like us. I see no reason why we should engage in hostilities, so I'm sending them an offer of friendship.

Additionally, our focused research efforts have resulted in another breakthrough.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Also the USS Chriss A colonized Durenia.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
The Morrison finished terraforming Benecia, so I'm sending it to Durenia to terraform the 2 remaining planets in the system.

Turn 131

Another mundane turn, for the most part. There has been a little headway in the diplomacy department. The Sheliak accepted our offer of friendship and trade. This effectively ends our war and I've assigned a trade route to their system from Zakdorn. Other than that, the only interesting thing to happen was that the Ferengi and the Klingons signed an affiliation treaty.

Plus the Rome and Monrovia completed the outpost over Sol. The Rome converted it's warp core to the power plant for the outpost, effectively removing it from service.

Turn 132

The Boughn colonized the Zadar system. Last turn the Johnson completed terraforming the Selay system and is moving to terraform the remaining planets in the system.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
In diplomatic news, the Romulans and the Cardassians signed an affiliation. It would appear that the entire galaxy is uniting against us. Also the Edo were quite willing to trade, and have accepted our offer of friendship. They are getting the second of Zakdorn's trade routes.

Turn 133

With multiple systems dedicating most of their population to research, we complete our Biotech research in only 3 turns.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
The upgraded colony ships will land with more colonists and more infrastructure. Durenia and Zadar are the last of our totally-shit colonies!

The only other thing of note this turn is that I've decided to bribe the Antedeans enough to open trade negotiations with them. We have the money, though I'm sure we could spend it on upgrades if we wanted.

Turn 134

I've settled on a location to build the Genesis Research Lab. It turns out that the Selay system can support it without any changes to its other tasks. It will complete in 2 turns.

The Sandhusky scouted the Setlik system this turn. It's as uninteresting as the rest of the vacant systems we seem to find. Here's a picture of the area we've scouted lately.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Turn 135

Effectively nothing to report. The Bajorans and Sheliak seem to like us an awful lot, so I'm sending them affiliation treaties in hopes they will accept. Other than that, all our systems are upgrading, all our fleets are finding nothing at all, and the First Destroyer Fleet continues to bomb Romulus. The system is down to 185/355 population.

Turn 136

This happened.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Also the Bajorans sent us an offer of affiliation at the same time we sent our own. I'll accept of course.

Turn 137

The Sheliak were not enticed by our offer of affiliation, but that's all right. The trade we are giving them will boost our relationship eventually. We've also reached the point with the Antedeans where I'm willing to send them an offer of friendship. I hope we can do something else with our money now.

Do the Romulans really need three fleets to be pacified? If not, use the Unity Fleet to harass the Ferengi or someone else. Just because they have no ships now, doesn't mean that they might not be trying to build.

Well, my logic is that it's taken almost 15 turns to take Romulus down by 1/3 of its population. That means it would take another 30 turns, minimum, to destroy the system at the current rate. But if we brought 2 more fleets, and powerful ones at that, we could get the job done much faster.

Although if you want we could begin bombarding the 2 Ferengi systems in range. The bulk of both Ferengi and Cardassian territory is currently out of our reach.

We should probably eventually get a full blown starbase somewhere near the borders with the Ferengi or Cardassia so that way we could strike them. Until then, send the Grey Fleet to assist with the "assimilation" of the Romulan people.

I'm planning on solving the range problem by absorbing the Edo and stealing the Bandi. Both are adjacent to enemy territory, and both are farther away than a troop transport could reach. In the meantime our fleets can attack the 3 Romulan systems and 2 Ferengi systems that are already in range.

Turn 138

This update starts out with yet another breakthrough.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Meanwhile, in Bolarus the USS Mertens A completed. This colony ship was built as an afterthought while we had some extra production in the system.

Regarding the fleet, all our support ships are converging on Betazed for now, while the Grey Fleet moves to assist the First Destroyer Fleet in bombing the Romulan homeworld. The Unity Fleet is moving to attack the Ferengi in the Tyrellia system.

Turn 139

Not much to report this turn. The Antedeans accepted our offer of friendship, and I've established a trade route with then from Mintaka.

The only other major news is this:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
13 mystery ships approaching from the far side of Ferengi space. I can only assume these are the Klingons, here to help the Ferengi in their war with us. On a related note, the Cardassians announced that they'd signed a non-aggression pact with the Klingons as well.

I'm ordering the nearby Grey Fleet to divert from Romulus to assist the Unity Fleet. 13 ships is a lot, and we don't want to get into a battle outnumbered.

Turn 140

Greetings from the United Federation of Planets!
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
The combined forces of the Unity Fleet and The Grey Fleet met 12 Klingon ships in orbit of Tyrellia. 8 escaped. The outnumbered and outgunned Klingons fled before the onslaught of our upgraded destroyers and cruiser-weight minor race ships. Our torpedoes claimed 2 scouts and 2 destroyers, while the rest escaped.

The remaining Klingon ships in the region, all 9 of them, are scouts. The Unity Fleet can handle them with ease, so the Grey Fleet will continue on-mission to assist in the bombardment of Romulus.

Also the Sheliak sent us an affiliation this turn. I only offered them one a few turns ago, but I guess they wanted to wait. The only other thing to happen worth noting this turn was that the Sandhusky's long-range sensors detected a Cardassian outpost in orbit of one of their systems. Perhaps this is their homeworld?

Turn 141

Just as the Unity Fleet was about to begin bombarding Tyrellia, the bulk of the Klingon fleet came back for more. Of the 8 ships that entered the sector, 4 managed to leave it. Admiral Sirus Jr. is racking up quite the kill count, and that doesn't even include the millions he just bombed into rubble.

So far we've summarily destroyed about 8 Klingon vessels, what would appear to be the bulk of their navy. Let's see if they want to sign a peace agreement!

Turn 142

The Klingons sent us a demand for money. It was less than their fleet cost, which is kind of amusing.

The only other events of "note" this turn are that I've sent the Mertens to the Shelia system to terraform one of their planets. I also spotted 6 of their raiders moving towards Romulan space. Maybe they plan on helping in the attack.

Turn 143

Oh fuck.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Oh yes, this makes me feel better.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
To round out the turn, the Klingons simultaneously praised us for bombing the Romulans and ignored our peace offering. How odd.

We cannot afford to lose our three best fleets in a suicide mission. We must build up our forces, losing a few systems if we must, and then destroy it.

As for pulling First, Grey, and Unity fleets away from our current enemies, I have a question. Could we possibly use them to lure the cube over to our foes? I don't even know if this is possible in this game, but I'm thinking that some ships engage the cube, break away towards Ferengi space or whatever, and see if the cube follows. If it does, we get it out of our hair for a while and the enemy loses some valuable systems.

If the above is not possible, go ahead and bring our fleets home. Perhaps they can be upgraded or repaired while we wait for the meatshields heroic defenders to be built.
