You know, its funny: Between Sorcerers version, Valikdu's F:E inspired one, and this, by the time Nido manages to actualy unleash his hopeful epic mod my game folder will be some sort of frankensteinian monstrosity of Zerg Ponies fighting off Taken and stuff. Heck, there would probably be five-six horrid forces athema to life running around world gen, too.

Changelings and associated nightmare entity added.

Unlike ordinary Taken, the changelings consist purely of their nightmarish shrouds, not needing the bodies of others to assume physical form. Predators of positive emotions, their formless nature allows them to assume the shapes of friends and loved ones alike, with which they consume the love of your citizens.

Only one of these ponies is real...

     -Their bodies of shadow are at once their greatest strength and greatest weakness. Entities based upon fear and belief, their shifting forms are fragile and may be destroyed easily by physical assault.
     -Like all creatures of the darkness, they will steal the bodies of sentient beings and turn them into ready Taken servants.
     -As always, the light is your ally. Changelings exposed to strong sources of light are weakened and unable to transform, though they are more resistant to the light than ordinary Taken.
     -Changelings don't use weapons or armor, as transforming forces them to drop their inventory.

Changeling Drone
     -The basic social unit of the changeling hierarchy, responsible for maintaining the hive and harvesting emotions from subjugated populations.

Changeling Warrior
     -Warriors are tasked with defending the hive and conquest of new food sources.

Changeling Infiltrator
     -Highly intelligent and opportunistic, infiltrators are capable of blending into food source communities, draining the population’s positive emotions over long periods of time.

Changeling Queen
     -The Queen is the mother of every changeling in the hive, twisting and weaving harvested emotions into the shrouds of new dark eggs. Possessing immense magical prowess and alien intelligence, these nightmares are as powerful as the alicorns, if not more, and are utterly devoted to the consuming of all sentient life.

Warriors, infiltrators, and queens will drop various dark sludges upon death.

Re-uploaded after fixing an unexpected bug with the light distribution reactions that prevented the red-light warning from expiring. Slightly increased blinking frequencies on light-equipped citizens so it's more noticeable who's carrying torches, flares, and flashbangs.

Also made some ethics modifications to the changeling and pony entities.

Ah, was just about to post for about that. Oh, and a question: Do you have plans for Zebras and Buffalo? I was just thinking of a rhyming Nightmare, and thought that considering the other's it would fit.

Also, I think I might have to start preparing for breaching the lower caverns, but nearly everyone in the fort has some sort of light source so its all good.

I'm trying this, hey not to annoy you, but the description in the links are switched, I assume the sound is the 58mb file, but on the page it says (v1.04, nosound).

And yes, plans for Taken zebras and buffalo are in the pipeline, though it's a bit backed up after the changeling introduction.

Hey, how do I turn off the FPS counter?

The init and d_init files control most of the ingame settings.

Go to data => init => init.txt, then find FPS and set it to NO.

Edit for below post: In the ingame menu, look for the advanced worldgen parameters, then modify embark points in one of the available region samples. I believe this will also require preparing carefully for the journey when starting a fortress. There are many other settings available, a guide to which is the wiki here:

EDIT: Hey, how did you change the starting quantity for items? So that you get more. Where is that stored.

For some reason, when i was reading description of this mod, my heart skipped a beat or two. This is so wrong. Downloading, ofc.

And actually, i cant. DFFD's download speed is awful, and download stopped at half, producing broken file. Is there any other place i can download the mod?

You can start with the no soundtrack version, which should be small enough to download. I had tried to find a way to better compress the audio files, but to no avail.

Edit: I've updated the pony-free mod to the current version, barring the changelings, which aren't in the Alan Wake canon. Sorry for the wait.

Response to below: No plans for a graphics version as of yet due to lack of pony and changeling sprites, but I will probably install one of the semi-ascii ones later.

Spent a hour, but downlodaded it. World creation now.
Will there be graphic version? Kinda used to Mayday's DFG, hard to focus on ASCII now..

Third year is passed. I packed up with sentry torches, hiding in my fortress, but yet, only few taken appeared, in the caves below, before i even discovered the cave system, and was killed by something hungry and evil. On the surface, only couple of kobold thieves so far.
And strangely enough, i have expedition leader, with 109 pony in the fortress

Graphics Update v1.04b

The soundtrack has been removed from both versions and can be downloaded separately.

Wild Taken frequencies slightly increased.

The Jolly Bastion tileset has been relabeled as the ASCII graphics version with a color revamp.
