Start your own adventure in this world...or is it too much to handle for you?Welcome to my first Forum RPG here at bay12games, so, before I write down any rules or how I handle fights and all that stuff let me first explain what this will be:
It is a Pen & Paper inspired kind of Role-playing Game, which means that I actually except the players to play their role, their characters should have fears, react with each other, thus I do indeed except players not to post their application and the be gone after 2 weeks, I actually plan that this will last a bit longer. The „rulebook“ that I wrote up for this will be available to all of the players, and it will be a bit bigger than the usual rules that are set up for a RPG here, it will grow over time as well as I add more place descriptions and all that stuff. My system of calculating fights and such is based on a german Pen & Paper named Das Schwarze Auge (DSA) or The Black Eye in English. Why? Because I like it. That does however not mean that I just copy anything in those rules and rewrite it into a post-apocalyptic setting, I indeed change many things, especially in the character creation because I got my own system for that. There will be no fixed professions or skills for certain characters, but be sure that you will not need combat-only characters, fights can not only be solved by killing all enemies involved, and it might even be more useful not to do so.
Now, that I stated what I except and how things will be going here's some general information about the setting:
We play in a post-apocalyptic world 150 years after a alien race has „harvested“ earth for most of its useful resources, the land became dry, all plants died and water is very rare those days. After they did so they left earth and the humans that didn’t die in this process, too to die. Only 10% of humanity survived the next 10 years and the numbers of living humans is going worse day to day, mutants of all kinds, changed by the „Great Harvest“ as this event is called are roaming around the world, but this does not bring only disadvantages, there are rumors about humans developing magical abilities, moving things around without even touching them and such. Weapons are still very widely spread around the world, but only a very small part of them is actually working, and the amount of ammunition is low and to buy even 1 magazine of bullets from a merchant you're likely to be in the need to give him all your food and water. Improvised weapons however are quite widely used, dart shooting paintball guns or bows, throwing spears or a sword made of a chainsaw, humanity always got creativity in such things. Medical supplies are near non-existent, however there are quite some people who learned how to use plants for different things these days, making their own medicine, however, it is hard to determine if the person in front of you saying he can help you is indeed a Medic or just someone wanting to strip you off your money.
Now that you've (hopefully) read through this first wall of text you hopefully know what idea I have for this. The “rulebook” will be sent to you over Personal Message once you reply here that you'd like to participate, however, it might take a week for me to finish it (I'll try my best making it earlier). There you'll also find all the information for creating your character, choosing stats, traits, skills and all that. Just send it back to me and you'll be good to go.
