So... I do not need to actually download and learn Unity? Or would it be good to do so and then also learn C# to go with it? I am gonna guess that C# isn't too different from C / C++ so it shouldn't be too difficult to learn. If I don't have to download Unity that would be great as I would otherwise need to find a library to get better internet speeds >.>

I kinda wish there was more screaming, but rocks don't hurt so I guess it can't be helped.

This seems interesting enough. Is there any actual game design beyond the concept yet?

Oh, we have plenty of theoretical design.
But I don't think I can really follow up by making stuff...

@Kofthefens: Awesome! However, I'm going to advise you to use C#. Not only is it a much better language, but also because it's the language we're using for this project.

I'm doing JavaScript because it is similar to Java and most of the Unity tutorials use it.

The conference was mostly about solidifying game concepts and mechanics. Anyone who missed it didn't miss too much. Much of what we discussed was put on the last part of the design doc. We're still not completely done with the idea and concept part yet. No roles were really given, except the ones I last mentioned. The only actual work being done on the game at the moment is malloc's work on the voxel engine.
Thanks. I'll reorganize the doc

By the way, I added some stuff to the Doc

If C# is going to be used I may be able to help. Also, question, what is the Unity thing people are referring to, Google doesn't help with stuff like that without context.

I made something so that you can move and rotate a camera, it seems to be working.

The terrain as it is now can render voxels as cuboids, and add/remove voxels. So it looks like Minecraft right now. I even slapped on Minecraft's dirt textures for fun.

Next order of business will be to make mesh generator generate slopes too. If all goes as planned I should be finished with it today. Perhaps I will even make the voxel cell class, so we can start adding some basic game contents such as minerals.

Would it be an idea to put everything on a repository, so people can see what has been done so far?

We will when we have something worth showing.

I did a camera that you can move around and rotate. Right now I'm working on how jobs are assigned and made, ect.

If anyone is interested. Here is what I have done today:

(It's slopes!)

They will probably need some more work later, but should work fine for now. I think I am getting confident in C# and unity, and I can probably start doing more advanced stuff soon.

@malloc: Nice. I see that the house is blocky, but the terrain has ramps, why is that? Because the house is a construction and not terrain?

@adwarf: Awesome! That could be part of a screen that shows up when you first start a game.

i would assume he has a slope block, similar to the ramps in DF?
