If the voting works the way I think it does, you can vote once on each item, unless two of them are mutually exclusive. (which the growth are not. multiple growth actions means our growth is divided, each get's a proportional amount.) You can vote up (+1) or down (-1). Also I never counted 10ebbor10s comment cause I have no idea what he wants. But yeah, 1000 energy sounds fine.

Do you mean "Ponder the possibility of change to your structure if you assimilate the H.D. matter"?

I have to vote against the expanding vision, that basically requires us to make our structure thicker, and as such will use Craptons of energy and give us little in return. We should upgrade our vision next time we undergo metamorphosis, however. The pondering High Integrity matter is probably pointless but consumes no resources, so we might as well.

It is assimilation, it has a significantly better energy use to energy production ration than producing crystal to surround the high integrity matter. It will also help to locate any better mineral stores. The argument that it drains a great deal of energy and produces little is, at best, overstated. Metamorphosis is probably impossible until we assimilate a new form of material, so scouting(and increasing vision is about sprouting tendrils off of our side, not just growing everything by 5 layers) is necessary if you want to speculates on such things...

Also, there is no reason to believe that mental activity does not consume energy, in fact, what we do know, is that concentrating enough to go into tick mode actually inhibits energy generations, so it is in fact the single most expensive thing that we could possibly do... Although there are no known time pressures so voting it down would only serve to inhibit turn skipping, which there is no reason to do.

Thinking shouldn't use energy, otherwise we'd pay energy per post. And it shouldn't require going into tick time scale, either. The random tendrils thing might be useful later, but for now we've found something interesting and should stick to seeing what we can do with it.

Although it should be noted that assimilating matter does allow us to recover the energy used in the assimilation fairly quickly.

I voted against both the crystal generation ideas as we have a lot of spare storage and it's far more efficient to assimilate.
I voted for assimilating the medium density matter for the same reason.

I think exploring downwards/through the cavern is a better way of expanding vision than thickening everywhere, (and so added those options) although if the original idea was to make little tendrils everywhere I'm happy to go with that option too.

Would it be worth putting a [+1] or [-1] next to options we change to show what we voted for? Or is that easy enough for people to see?

I'm against the voting against thingy.  That unbalances the system.

Example: 3 voters: 2 want A and 1 wants B.

A gets 2 votes , and B gets one. However B votes against A , seemingly resulting in a tie, while instead a 2/3 majority has chosen A.

This is the corrected quote post, with the against votes noted behind the ideas. Adding the changes is also a good idea.

The crystal has a vision range of three, so right-angled tendrils of length 5 with a distance of 6 between each one should be sufficient to expand the view...

Hmm. if people stick around to vote on the options that get put up after them, then it works fine. But if they don't then yeah, it does make things unbalanced. the main use is for places where we have lots of non-mutually exclusive options.
