I don't know about preordering, but how is Dead Island on the PC?

Honestly I think Dead Island is garbage and while it has a Harder mode you will probably never go through the game a second time before it is boring.

Though to highlight probably the easiest example of why the game is stupid: Guns have about maybe five clips in them of their weapon type. Ammo, however, isn't rare it is in fact extremely common... but your character will refuse to carry any sizable amount of it. They will carry everything including the kitchen sink but will refuse to carry good amounts of bullets.

As well the game hints strongly at a shift of focus especially since one of the characters attacks involves her switching to a box cutter.

It is a comedy game that isn't very funny (no really Dead Island is a comedy, that intro you saw? entirely misdirection created either before the change of focus or to fool people into buying it.)

Heck some of their jokes were SO BAD they had to take them out (The "Feminist Bitch" ability was renamed for example) and probably the worst part of the story is everyone is so unlikable.

But honestly don't take my word on it. I hated it, my friends liked playing it only once through, but I am sure it is a lot better and more popular then I think it is. Yet I will say make sure you know what you are buying because it isn't the "Zombie survival horror" you think it is... it is a "Zombie Comedy Hack and Slash"

The funniest playthrough of Dead Island I have ever seen was two guys playing it while they were drunk. They happen to be funny drunks. So what I'm trying to say is watch people play video games drunk, evenespecially terrible games.

I thought it was decent. Definitely wouldn't call it garbage. I'd rate it at a $10 purchase.

seriously i rented the game at release and played for two days, completed it and stopped any caring afterwards. The way they mashed up combat like L4D and Borderlands wasn't well executed and the zombies got really boring 5 minutes in.

Has anyone played the Dark Souls port? How is it? After seeing an interview with Zach and Tarn, and learning that Tarn plays it, I am am almost intrigued enough to buy the game.

I've heard that while the modders have helped it significantly, you're still better off using a controller for the most part.

Apparently it uses GFWL. Any way to either disable it or rip it right out? I've had nothing but bad experience with it and vowed never to buy another game with it.

Also a little tempted to pick up the Firaxis pack mainly for Xcom. Not too interested in the Civ games since I already own and I'm not a fan of V. Anyone think it's worth the price tag or to just wait for another sale.

Well, theres certainly a way to ignore GFWL. Whether or not you want to go find said workaround is your job though
