Amazon has gone crazy again. Some of these deals are on games I have wanted and are too good to pass up. I think my wait for Bioshock is definitely over.

Rather than start a new thread for another great sale, I posted it at the end of this thread along with rewriting this first post.

Once again, Amazon has a completely outrageous sale.

The Current Sale is:

Divinity II: The Dragon Knight Saga (DRM free and well reviewed) is 85% off for $5.99.

Bioshock Dual Pack (both 1 & 2) for $7.49.

Game of Thrones - Genesis is 88% off for $4.99

SimCity 4 Deluxe Edition with Rush Hour Expansion Pack is 75% off at $4.99.

Gray Matter is 75% off at $4.99

Blood Bowl Legendary Edition is 75% off at $9.99.

Sid Meiers Civilization IV: The Complete Edition is 75% off at $7.49.

Cities XL 2012 is 75% off at $9.99.

The Stronghold Collection is 75% off at $4.99.

Bioshock is 75% off at $4.99.

ArmA 2: Combined Operations half off for $14.99.

Medal of Honor is 75% off for $4.99.

Syndicate is half off at $29.99.

Borderlands Game of the Year Edition is 75% off at $7.49.

The rest of the sales can be seen at this page, 12 Days of Dynamite Deals.

It looks like some of those use Steam and some don't. Make sure you buy what you want.

Cities XL is worthless. Divinity2, SimCity 4 (once you grab some big mods), and Civ4 (also good mods, but not as necessary) are probably worth it.

Sims 3 is still $100+ for everything. Gah. F*ing EA. $40 for elevators or spiral staircases.

Is Cities XL worthless only if you have previous versions? Or is just a flaming bag of crap?

Cities XL doesn't feel like a good game.  Some parts of it were too easy, and some parts of it were totally unintuitive.  Do you want your industries to hire unskilled labor, skilled labor, and expert labor (and they generally need all of 'em past the early game)?  Better zone three different types of residential, because there's a super-strict caste system where housing is concerned!  Your people are dumb as stumps, though, and will happily expand to fill the buildings available.  You are personally responsible for keeping the employee and employer levels balanced, or they will whine at you constantly instead of just not moving into an imbalanced city.  This is terrible if you want to plot out a lot of housing space for executives, in the expectation of future expansion.  Tons of rich executives will move into your city, say "Where are my jobs!", then whine.  Do you want tourism in your city--sorry, I mean, do you want to "export vacations"?  Plop some hotels down anywhere.  ANYwhere, they don't care about land value.  Just not too close together.  Tourism is just another ground-based resource, and whether it's a hotel or an oil well, it'll suck up all the available resource around it.  Want to widen your roads in-place?  Sure!  There's no tiles, so you can just bump them up to something 20% wider.  Have fun destroying all the buildings along it though, because there's no simple way to say "I want a normal sized road right now, but space the buildings out so I can upgrade to an avenue later."

Cities XL doesn't feel like a good game...

Because the whole "franchise" was based on trying to salvage what was left of a failed city-builder MMO that was also meant to con you into buying micro-DLC (Want buses?  There's was Day 1 DLC for that.)

Luckily the original developers closed down because no one was buying that kind of hucksterism, but there's only so much you can do to polish a turd.  Cities XL 12 is inexplicabilty heavy on system resources, and lacks any of the charm of the Sim City or Transport Tycoon.  Without the MMO aspect, the whole idea central concept of specialized cities importing and exporting their specialties on a global market falls flat.

Stick to SimCity 4 ($4.99 in the same sale!,) Open Transport Tycoon, or even Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 for the next year until the new SimCity comes out.

Wait, is RCT3 any good?  I always assumed that it was going to be the redheaded stepchild of the series, and dumbed down or hard to use.  How does it compare to RCT2?

It's 3D which is all I need to know to not want to buy it.  I'll take isometric pixel graphics any day...

Really?  Well you're missing out.  RCT3 was perfectly faithful to the mechanics of RCT2, yet ported the whole thing into a 3d engine while adding additional complexity to the theme park mechanics, mod friendliness, and bucketloads of content.  You can move and zoom camera anywhere you want, including first person to ride the rides, but you can also lock it at an isometric angle for practical purposes.  In other words, unless you've got an unreconcilable fetish for Win95-era 256 color graphics,  RCT3 does everything better and more.

Game development wise, it was pretty much a perfect example of how to take sequel to lesser known developer and modernized engine without fucking it up.  I'm surprised it worked too.

Despite the big list above, I looked at the top sellers and noticed that I missed a few that people seem to be buying.

X-Com Collection (5 games) for $3.99.

Metro 2033 (I personally didn't include it because I didn't like it, but it is the #3 selling game from the sale so others must have liked it) for $4.99.
