Rather than start a new thread for another great sale, I posted it at the end of this thread along with rewriting this first post.

Amazon have a 1C sale. Games are $5 each. Then you are given a promotional coupon that will give you another $5 game for free. So it's two games for $5.

Here's the link to the $5 sale page:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html/?ie=UTF8&plgroup=1&tag=wwwregansravi-20&linkCode=ur2&docId=1000716161&camp=1789&plpage=1&creative=9325

The games that I have played and enjoyed are...

Space Rangers 2 Reboot:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003P2VIOW/ref=as_li_tf_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=wwwregansravi-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B003P2VIOW

King's Bounty Platinum Edition:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0042AMMDW/ref=as_li_tf_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=wwwregansravi-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B0042AMMDW

Games that I have wanted to try...

Fantasy Wars:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003N3U5U6/ref=as_li_tf_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=wwwregansravi-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B003N3U5U6

UFO Triology (watch out! They also have these individually for $5):
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004ZGBMCK/ref=as_li_tf_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=wwwregansravi-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B004ZGBMCK

Are any of the other games on the sale good?

What kind of games are those two, pilgrimboy? They look interesting, but I don't really need to spend more if I don't know I'm going to play them soonish.

The penumbra collection is definatly worth it if you've not played them. Atmospheric survival-horror with a focus on physics and puzzles. The devs of this later went on to make Amnesia: The Dark Descent.

Which two are you asking about Aklyon?

Kings Bounty is a really good, deep tactical RPG. I've not played too much of it myself, but there seemed to be a lot to do, lots of units to use, etc. There's a lot of game there for a fiver. Definatly worth getting if any of that sounds remotely interesting to you. Trailer for good measure!

Space Rangers 2 I don't know much about. From what I can remember from my brief attempt at playing it it's a russian top-down elite style turn based space game with a RTS component when you goto planets. Hopefully someone else will be able to ellaborate a bit on that. :P

Got kings bounty platinum and men of war assault squad game of the year. One of these days I'm going to want to play a game on one of my accounts and have no idea where to go to download it.

Space Rangers 2 Reboot?  Sadly, I'm assuming it's not free of Starforce copy protection? I've heard stories of that crap screwing up people's computers.

Actually, the great news is that the download of Space Rangers 2: Reboot does not have Starforce.

As for the game, Fenrif is right. It is a top-down space exploration/combat/upgrade your ship/rpg game. And when you do missions it turns into a text-based or rts or some other sort of game. If you don't like some of the missions (as I don't like RTS), then it lets you say you don't want to be asked for those types of mission. It is a fun game that has taken a lot of my time.

As for King's Bounty, you are getting two AAA games for $5. They might be a few years old, but they are more of like a tactical combat game. I paid $20 for it and wasn't disappointed.

Current Game Rankings from this sale at Amazon. Again, my recommendations are King's Bounty and Space Rangers 2 Reboot. Others have recommended Penumbra.

1. King's Bounty: Platinum Edition (The Legend & Armored Princess & Crossworlds)  - An adventure game with tactical turn-based battles and role-playing elements. You get two full games plus an expansion. It's fun.

2. Men of War: Assault Squad - Game of the Year Edition - A WWII shooter with 5 DLCs.

3. Penumbra Collection (Penumbra Overture, Penumbra Black Plague, Penumbra Requiem) - Atmospheric survival-horror with a focus on physics and puzzles. The devs of this later went on to make Amnesia: The Dark Descent. (thanks, fenrif).

4. UFO Trilogy (UFO: Aftermath, UFO: Aftershock and UFO: Afterlight) - Think X-Com updated. You get three games. I haven't played this one but am likely to pick it up from this sale.

5. Space Rangers 2 Reboot (Starforce Free) - A top-down space exploration/combat/upgrade your ship/rpg game. And when you do some of the planet-side missions it turns into a text-based or rts or some other sort of game. If you don't like some of the missions (as I don't like RTS), then it lets you say you don't want to be asked for those types of mission. It is a fun game that has taken a lot of my time.

6. Cryostasis - First-person shooter/survival-horror.

7. Men of War - WWII Shooter.

8. Necrovision - This on has a free demo to try out. It's a WWI shooter with vampires and demons.

9. Planet Alcatraz - "Planet Alcatraz is a classical RPG that is based on a specially developed system. In a general sense Planet Alcatraz can be portrayed as a non-linear adventure with lots of shooting. The action takes place on prison planet Alcatraz. Its inhabitants are inveterate criminals that were banished there for the life term for their terrible crimes." Looks somewhat like classic Jagged Alliance.

10. Dawn of Magic 2 - Appears to be an interesting action rpg that I have never heard of despite coming out in 2009.

11. Death to Spies: Moment of Truth

12. Men of War Assault Squad - No reason to buy this one as the #2 game is an update of this.

13. NecroVisioN Lost Company - Another FPS with monsters & zombies. This time you are a German.

14. Star Wolves 3 - Civil War A hybrid RTS/RPG. I was interested in this one, but the review I read said it would be good to use in lectures on how not to make games. Has anyone tried this one out?

15. A Farewell to Dragons - This one sounds like a winner and will probably get my money. Still debating. I like to overanalyze spending my $5 or $10. It's an action/rpg and this review made me want to buy it. "At first look, Gameplay seems similar to Dungeon Siege (and it's cousins). But the play is actually deeper. The rule system is actually more similar to fallout, with skills and perks (every 4 levels!). And the party mechanics are more like Baldurs Gate 2 (compete with inter-party bickering) There is a main quest, but within the main quest, there are plenty of little quests, that actually matter (and of course, there are some that are fluff)."

And the generic link to the sale page that has games not listed here.

And an honorable mention to a game I am debating on buying. Fantasy Wars. Anyone have any experience with this one?

I played a demo of Fantasy Wars a long time ago, it reminded me of a puzzle game + a lighter Fantasy General. Heavily limited turns mean you have to go in to each map with a plan, which often means you'll have to retry the tougher ones a time or two (or ten). It didn't really grab me when I tried it, but I know some people really love it. You can track down the demo and give it a shot.

It had charming graphics. The combat was probably what you'd expect in a TBS like this, but it worked well. One of those famous "easy to learn, hard to master" games. But again, I only have limited experience with it.

This sale is really great, though. Struggling to choose another game to get with King's Bounty. Might get Men of War, is the single-player skirmish stuff good? I'd get destroyed in multiplayer RTS, I'm sure. Might get SR 2, too. A few others that look like interesting little unknowns. A Farewell to Dragons does indeed look like it might be good ...

EDIT: Another review from that same site, pilgrimboy: Magerette's Review for A Farewell to Dragons.

I like Fantasy Wars. It's fun, although I'd say the old Fantasy General game it's based on is better overall. Fantasy Wars doesn't feel like it has as much replay value. Still, if you like TBS games it's a good choice.

FYI (in case you missed the earlier post, which I did), when you buy one of the 1C Games (most of those on the list that pilgrimboy posted), you get a $5 credit for use on another 1C game. So I just got King's Bounty and Space Rangers 2 for $10, and then downloaded A Farewell to Dragons and the UFO Trilogy for free! Great deals!

Gamersgate had all of 1C (or damn near almost all) for $20 last week. Amazon is late to the party.

You're late in telling us about it too. Or did you and I missed it?
