Executions!
« on: April 12, 2012, 08:43:25 am »

Now, im sure every single DF player has preformed an execution at least once in their life. I have as well. However, a problem is presented. My hole with spikes at the bottom is not as effective as i'd hoped. I can chuck a lizardman down the hole but sometimes he'll survive. I cannot have this. He should die from being impaled right away, damn it! So, DF players. I ask you, how do you execute things? Should I get creative or be simple? Yeah, I can toss a kobold in magma or spike pit, but.. it lacks that pizazz. That spark. That.. !!xXFUNXx!!

I always like drowning chambers myself.

Hm. Drowning. Could happen. But what if they can breathe underwater somehow? Maybe.. throw a few carp in the chamber! Then when it gets drained, the carp die and I can use them for food.

your problem is that your pit is not deep enough. You should get something like 50 z levels deep. Ideal for repainting the walls.

Agreed. A deeper pit should solve all your problems.

I had an execution chamber where I could drop up to six creatures at one time. It was so popular that my dorfs carved about it on the walls. It was rather glorious.

In the event I have a fort with a giant sponge on the map, would I be able to make a sponge-based execution system? And.. I guess I could try and make the pit deeper. But, I like having options ready if I get bored.

Unless dropping someone down the pit results in a very very bloody and amusing mess.

Make the hole deeper.
Even if someone survives the fall, they might pass out sooner or later.

Arenas are always fun, but a bit tricky against squad leader goblins and larger creatures. I always liked to use critters for target practice too.

I tend not to use magma as I'm having some dificulties in getting it to a practical place, but drowning is always fun and you can recycle the water to train dorfs in swimming if you let it leak out into your corridors to evaporate, theough you might get trees growing in your fort.

Im just worried if I hit the caverns, a FB will show up and fly out of it. Or something else that is bad will also fly through the hole.

Build an execution tower/pit. For safety go with a total height of something like 15 and you won't even really need spikes. Not that you can't still use them, ofcourse.

What if at the bottom of the pit I put 10 cotton candy serrated disks into a trap? Will that trigger it?

If not trapavoid, then it should.

It would completely and utterly obliterate critter you chuck in.

It would be a huuuuge waste of time, effort and candy though.

There is no such thing in DF.
