I've been considering a major industrial revamp project, personally.  The races are fine, but glass, ceramics, soapmaking, and a bunch of other industries are in dire need of some loving.

I expect the custom reaction raw will be overflowing with fixed up reaction replacements if I were to actually dedicate myself to the task...

Sorry that doesn't answer your question, but that's what I personally would like to see.

.....Okay, a dwarven type, want your own plant? Or maybe a special animal.

Perhaps I should send you a PM, because it won't be a short list.

How about a civ of dwarves that use ceramic weapons and armor? Make them incredibly xenophobic, but loyal to themselves.

Make a civ of Golems who can only craft Large Mauls, Large Warhammers, and Large Shields out of stone. They are friendly but you better not piss them off. And if they die you get a random masterwork furniture piece or something.

I got fed up with my fortress, so I decided to kill everyone (abandon is for elves) with a cave-in.

OK, cave-ins were always pretty deadly, but with the new falling object damage they are downright brutal.  As far as I can make out from the logs, many people were killed by the flying bodies of other victims.  One baby's corpse ricocheted off three other people, two walls and the floor.

kobolds that survive.
Kobolds do survive now. But they don't survive if you attack them.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

As an actual suggestion. Make a dwarven race that builds cities (actual cities) in the mountains, fortresses (no tombs), make it evil, and make it cruel. You know, babysnatchers, all of that. Perhaps you could make them building destroyers as well. (Mr Frog said there was a bug with the building destroyer tag, but I can't recall what he said it was.) Raise their strength and agility, but lower their focus. Aim for making above-mountain dwarves who build great fortresses, attacking the civs on the plains with brutelike strength and a total lack of morals or strategy. That shouldn't be too hard to mod in. :) You'd only have to slightly modify the creature files for them (I'd make it a copy of dwarves, maybe "dark dwarves"), and the entity files aren't that hard to change either.

And a final note. If you want to give something firebreath, don't forget the superfireimmune tag. Oh, and the UNDIRECTED_DUST basically makes an explosion. If you want your dwarves/creatures to make bloody kamikaze attacks on enemies, use it. It's fun.

EDIT: Spoilered everything pointless. No more writing at 5am for me.

At risk of being mocked for an obvious idea, how about centaurs?

There's safe. Then there's unsafe. And then there's the average dwarf fort, which remains unrated because the OSHA inspector flatly refused to go anywhere within a dozen miles of the place.

full race or just a civ?

if race, craft me decepticons.

bonus points for making them actually transform, and researching "army building" body types in order to deploy a caste system.

triple mega bonus points if you can somehow mod in combiners.

requirements are at least a proper body plan, and nobles.  body must be mettalic and have integrated weaponry.

why transformers?  well, if an 80's cartoon/toyline for girls can get a mod, so can an 80's toyline/cartoon for boys.

that, and if it wasent really obvious, i remain a big fan.
