Semi-necro here but... I like Colt .45 Single Action Army revolvers. Anybody have any interesting tips or things I should be aware of?

Have someone who knows revolvers look it over for timing and lockup if you're planning on buying one to shoot.

In recent firearms-related news, I found an AR-15 lower receiver for $100 shipped to my FFL, and I could hardly pass it up at that price. I'm leaning toward a bit of an oddball caliber, 6.5 Grendel, which has great long-range performance and doesn't wear out barrels like the Winchester Super Short Magnum that can also go into an AR-15 platform, if I'm not mistaken. I don't really have the cash to put it all together now, but I'm looking forward to getting to it later this year.

I also finally managed to find a place that had some .455 Webley ammunition in stock, so I'll be able to give my lovely old British revolver a try.

Beretta 92s are great to shoot, though bear in mind that I've only fired two handguns. The other was a 5-7 that jammed so often the guy at the range said they'd have to send it in for a replacement.

I have:
Cooey Model 75(.22lr bolt action, single shot, iron sights) I use for precision shooting
Marlin 336(.30-30 lever action, raised scope) My mom's hunting rifle once she gets her shot grouping tight enough.
Savage Model 111(.270 bolt action, standard scope)My hunting rifle
Remington 870 Express Magnum(20ga pump action, rifled barrel and smooth barrel) I plan on removing the scope rail once I find the right size bolts to hold the action.

I also have my little Crosman Pumpmaster 760 I got when I was... um... I was very young. I don't remember exactly how young. But the one they sell now has features mine does not. Like a fiberoptic front sight and a 5 pellet clip. Actually mine isn't even compatible with the 5 pellet clip. But that's fine because I only use BBs anyway.

Went to Bass Pro, and the cheapest .22 revolver they have has a ridiculous rainbow wood handle. Just leave the handle alone, you horrible people!

Just take the handle off an replace it with one of those nice sythnetic ones, all you need is a screwdriver. My 38 revolver came with one of the slippery polished rosewood cowboy grips and I replaced them with 'Uncle Mike's Combat Grippz' or someshit and they are infinitely better and cost me maybe 20$.

So apparently that 3D-Printed gun is as crappy as expected.

Yeah that's kinda what I expected. It might get the first shot off, but after that all you're really holding is a hand grenade.

Still seems like it's a plausible idea. That design used a .380 acp which is a moderately powerful round.

If they made one that used .22lr or .38 special it might work better.

Anyways, for homemade guns, a pipe shotgun is still probably infinitely cheaper and better then anything you'd make out of plastic.

It's almost like plastic isn't actually a very good material to make guns out of.
