Well fishbreath if you ever want to test out my temple traps you are more than welcomed. Though make sure to clean up after yourself. I hate stains.

What, a Mosin? I have a Type 53 (the Chinese version of the M44 carbine) with a UTG tri-rail mount. It bolts onto the rear sight block, and it's been rock-solid so far (although my ability to zero a rifle is pretty crappy).

Awesome. Rolling stones? Spinning blades? The works?

we had one of those but with my military and hunting loads it always shook itself out of place since it replaced the rear sight

Strange. I use mostly PPU 182-grain for poking holes in faraway bits of paper, and it's my scope rings that come loose rather than the mount.

Blasted .455 Webley ammunition sold out in about two days a month or two ago, and my order isn't going to be filled until next January. I have this beautiful old giant revolver, and I should very much like to get a chance to use it.

Arise again, thread!

In the months since the last activity in this thread, I obtained my Collector of Curios and Relics FFL and almost immediately found a gun to buy: a Webley Revolver Mark VI, in the original .455, in fantastic condition, for about 60% of what comparable guns were going for. I immediately snapped it up, and it arrived today. It's a thing of beauty, a big chunky British revolver from those halcyon days of colonial adventurism, and although ammunition is 1) currently not available and 2) very expensive for handgun ammo when it is, I'm looking forward to my next range trip.
I once saw one once chambered in .577/.600, it was apparently made to kill zulu. Although it might have been a french gun, I'm unsure.

There were some Webley-built revolvers in .577 Boxer. That would be an awesome collector's gun, but it would also be the ultimate safe queen. I know nobody makes that cartridge anymore. Some Googling finds that some enterprising soul cut down a 24-gauge shot shell to make some ghetto gunsmith .577 cartridges, for which he gets props of the massive flavor.

I found a poor old SKS (well, a Chinese Type 56 with the chrome-lined barrel) not long ago, in a wooden stock that's beyond saving. It's oozing with cosmoline, though, so despite looking pretty well-used it's in fair shape metal-wise (I have just a touch of rust I need to buff off of the bolt carrier). Since it's a project I've wanted to do for a while, I ordered a Tapco T6 stock and some parts to turn it into a bump fire stock. Tonight: cosmoline cleanup. Ick.

I have a couple of nonstandard projectile weapons I'm looking to expand. My most recent toy is a simple pistol crossbow (Mtech DX-80) I got for very cheap. It is not a precision weapon in any way, but it is super fun and quiet enough that you could use it in any backyard (provided a good backstop).

More exotically, I built a Guass pistol from a kit (Amazing-1 EML-3k). It fires an aluminum ring about an inch across at airgun velocities... if you give it 5 minutes to charge and have the nerves of steel needed to bring the capacitors up to the full 700 volts. With better caps and a really good power supply, it could compete with the crossbow in utility and power. As it is, its just a high-tech solid-state energy weapon from the future.

I'm looking for a cheap laser or maybe something else exotic like a trebuchet.

Trebuchet plans are easy to find. A friend and I built a demonstrator this summer. Next summer we're going for an 8-foot arm and 200 pounds of counterweight. With a one-pound projectile, we're likely to have a range of about 200 yards.

I'm currently building a 10 footer. Weights are freaking expensive, though.
