So.... how long before we choose?

I'm going to wait for more civilization apps. I guess tomorrow or the day after that I'll make a poll/gather votes.

Race Name: Einhander

Race Description:Only seeming Humanoid in the vaguest sense, an 'Einhander' is actually a conglomerate soup of thousands upon thousands of macroscopic multicelluar beings-held together in advanced armored space suits, the only resemble a bulky human figure. An odd life form, to be sure.

When space explorers first encountered these 'living suits', they were truly surprised to realize it was not a truly technological being. Noticing their tendency to only have 'one hand'-the other limbs are modular components that can be used for a variety of things (they like cutting implements)-they were dubbed 'Einhanders'. Every single one is exactly 8 feet all measured to the nanometer, and weighs somewhere around 500 pounds. These suits are almost uniformally white, as are their ships and everything else they make. Simply enough, they can't perceive colors. The best way to differentiate them is by their battle damage-Einhanders can repair and clean their suits easily enough, but they leave certain marks, almost as trophies.

First contact was predictably violent-and they were, and are quite well adapted to engage it if threatened.

Einhanders are not by nature, a malicious species-nor are they overburdened with empathy. Or much in the way of emotions at all, at least in the way we understand them. Einhanders do have individual personalities, but they are difficult to comprehend,

They are for now a solitary race-and while occasionally they gather to share information, and who knows what else, most often, they're found relentlessly earning funds to fuel their suits with nutrition supplements-sometimes through pirate or mercenary work, other times through trade or honest business. People who 'know' them, say that a particular Einhander can engage in one, or both, with no compunctions whatsoever. More importantly, their numbers and strength are growing every year-and many suspect they'll soon declare themselves more than just a wandering race.

What complicates things is that their suits are, in fact, sprawling cities-housing billions of these tiny, unnamed beings, living their own bizarre existence, apart from us. In fact, they don't even seem to be interested in communicating with us-when Einhanders speak, it's in a simulated voice, often formulated from the person they are talking to. What we do know, is that they can feel fear-and hate...there is no race with a greater reputation for revenge than the Einhanders. Those who damage the interior of their suits (which could be considered an act of genocide) are marked not only for death, but a painful one.

Everything is truly a matter of perspective-and these bizarre giants will likely never be truly understood. No one is even sure where these suits come from-or how so many more are being made. Given the Einhanders somewhat obsessive desire for solitude, most people see them as a mystery best left alone.

Civilization Name: Einhander Union

Capital Name: The Gleam? Mo one living has seen what the Einhanders refer to as the 'Gleam', their home, with a strange ferocity unbecoming of their usually placid race.

Form of Government: Fragmentary Tribal Band

Civilization Description: Einhanders don't have a civilization, technically-the largest group of them is called the "Whiteout", and consist of a few hundred thousand hardened Einhander troopers and pirates, gathered in a fleet of nomadic vessel. Despite their small numbers, they've caused a lot of trouble for whoever they decide to prey upon-or whoever they're paid to prey upon.

Civilization Traits: Fast Population Growth, Stable Culture

Ruler Name: Omnorbo

Ruler Description: Exactly 8 feet tall-measured to the Nanometer. He looks no different from any other Einhander-stark white armor, faceless, vaguely humanoid-except for the ceremonial blade in his left hand, which was jammed into place an untold eon ago by a thoughtless act of violence. Either he can't or won't remove it, and it's as much a symbol of his rule as anything.
Ruler Bio: The legendary destroyer of planets-peerless tactician-and ruthless killer. All that, and he's never said anything worth quoting. Omnorbo has lived longer than almost any being, and taken part in the most brutal conflicts of the ages-and likewise, made grand fortunes in peace time through technological and mercantile duty...

His true goals are unknown, and he's certainly not speaking about them.

Me neither. An invisible sheet!

In other news - looking pretty great, everyone! Unfortunately, some of the would need some tweaking to be eligible.

@greatorder: Exactly how much is your civilization a hive mind? I'm afraid I can't allow a full hivemind as it makes roleplaying and Disunifying Powers impossible. If, say, the queens were independent, they could be made to work.

@Dwarmin: 'Whiteout' is a group of several thousand Einhanders - I'm afraid with the scale of this game, that wouldn't even count as population. Unless I count by the invididual beings inside the suits, this can't be used. I'd suggest 800 000+ for a starting population, at the very least. Most races will have armed forces in the millions alone.

Any other problems for everybody are minor enough that I can adjust, or I simply haven't noticed them. It's probably the former.

My vote goes for Humanity! Like stated before, easier to roleplay, although it would be fun to meet the other races.

No need to vote yet - I'll put a poll up later today or tomorrow morning. And, uhh, my vote will count for two. Because I have aaaall the power.

And, uhh, we have two humanities here. Taricus AI-guarded, population-controlled masses and Ardas' young, fledgling race.
