I also switch my vote from the Dalorians to the Tellian Dominion. The Dalorians'll be NPCs instead.

And voting has ended! Both the young Terrans and the Korpr Flock snatched two votes, as did the Zel'Akar Flame. The Teleri gained 1 vote, and due to vote-switching, the Dalorians ended up at 1 and the Reretia at 0.

The biggest two were the mysterious Einhander Union, at 4 votes, and the Tellus Dominion, which finishes voting with 5 votes! Welcome to AI-neutere- err, I mean, protected, humanity, ladies and gentlemen. I will post the proto-turn and state of the world in a bit - in the meantime, bring yourself over to #brightvoid on freenode webchat, or another IRC client, to discuss the game and whatever questions you might have.

I'll also try to get Taric here to elaborate on his civ if people are interested.

Once the proto-turn is up, in all its statistical glory, people are free to issue commands, with accompanying RP or not, and claim Disunifying Power-affliated characters or politicians, or military leaders. The latter also usually comes with an army/fleet or two under your wing.

*Claimes a disunifying Power, will create it shortly*

Anything I should think of when doing it?

We've already worked out several Disunifying Powers, but there's still room for some more. What we have right now are these;

STELLAR (Current Disunity: 8%) Partial copy of RAPTOR, in charge of industry control and administrative oversight on Landsmet. Anti-centralization, pro-war if it believes it can be won, somewhat xenophobic. Desires the power and position of the real RAPTOR.

Psionic Corps (Current Disunity: 6%) The overseers of human military psionics have gradually made their way into Dominion politics. Sharing the respect and fear of their underlings, their words carry surprising weight amongst the high and mighty.

Expansion Movement (Current Disunity: 10%) Ever since the Dominion put the colonization drives on hold, a portion of the population has been fiercely advocating for their return and new expansion, whether by military campaign or colonization. The Expansion Movement includes both humans and mechanoids from every strata of society. They are very pro-war, especially if focused on conquest of new worlds, and oppose large ties with aliens.

The Future of Steel (Current Disunity: 4%) In recent years, a growing trend amongst mechanoids, some of who can go their entire lives without seeing a human, is lobbying for a marginalization of the organic populace. While overall fairly unpopular due to the human-protective guidelines of RAPTOR, the various Future of Steel political movements advocate the gradual decrease of human populations and new laws and restrictions to limit their movements and freedoms. The majority of the mechanoid population has yet to experience anything to swing their opinions either way. Radical advocants even suggest an extermination of humanity and the formation of a new synthetic master race. They are also highly anti-alien, and oppose any attempt at forming greater ties with external powers.

The total Disunity should be 40%, so there's still room for 12% more. Please don't hog all the space, though.

It would be faster if you asked these sorts of questions in the irc channel. #brightvoid - you can use the handy online client I linked to.

Humans win  :)

Though I really was vouching for the Einhander other than mine own, heh.

Looking forward to those turns and everyone's part!

The dawn of a new era!

A curious phenonemon - a race that has set their fate in the hands of an artificial intelligence and its synthetic ilk, trusting others to write their shared destiny. Will this lead to glory, when so many others have failed? It is possible - the galaxy knows little like it.

This species has only recently come in contact with another - the ever-growing Sorax Hives. First contact has been remarkably peaceful. For a long time, both sides have been too cautious to approach the other more directly, but that has now changed. Representatives of influential groups and invididuals gather in Primus Station to discuss matters of state under the watchful eye of RAPTOR. Few of them have ever met it before, and it remains to be seen if any of them can have any effect on the vast, calculating superintelligence.

Welcome to the Tellian Dominion.

This is only a proto-turn! You may suggest actions now if you wish, but construction/etc lists and general topics and events of concern only come in the first actual turn! However, I am giving a chance for people to claim Disunifying Powers and military leaders, or make their own characters, now! So get to it!

I'll repeat this because there's apparently some confusion on how YaK-like this is; most characters should be politicians or capable of suggesting actions for the course of the Dominion - there is NOT enough freedom or time for everyone to go adventuring freely. That said, you CAN have lasting impact on the world - but I need to keep the scale big - I can't run street-level gang politics in the slums of New Hong Kong, for example.

Yes, it is an unbelievable amount of information and statistics. But if reading it seems like too much work to you, imagine how it felt to me when I was doing it.

Is it ok if I claim the The Future of Steel instead? And let someone with a more original idea create a new faction?

@Evil: Sure, go ahead.

@10ebbor10: Actually, that's pretty much what we suggested Evil turn his similar idea to. Creepy. Do you want to claim the Unionists, or are you just adding them?

Oh, thank God he chose someone else. :P

I was having a lot of trouble actually defining what Einhanders actually had for a culture.

Here's what I made, anyway-it should help later.

You know, I suspected as much. >_>

Now, somehow run a miniature version of this set in an Einhander body!
