« on: April 10, 2012, 10:41:01 pm »

ok just after surviving my first goblin seige (and making many many coffins...) that had many deaths including three elf traders, a flashing !minotaur! comes to congradulate me...so i set up the alert (again...) and as im waiting he goes after a yak cow and i see that the yak is figthing pretty good and after i few seconds of them hitting and dodging my mouth just hangs open...the minotaur has stopped moving...i look and see that the cow was in fact knocking him down sometimes and finished it by goring  his head from behind...just wow i dont know if this has happend before but i just had to post this

Any animal with hooves may as well be packing a particle accelerator cannon.

Make some super cow beef.

Give that cow a room. Mod the game and allow that cow to have it's own special room. And only give the cow the best females to share his room with so he may breed.

Then slaughter those children for the super cow beef. Remember, happy cows make happy babies, which make strong babies, which makes great meat, which satisfies your dwarves. The strongest of the offspring to be used for guard duties of course, the middle of the road cows for consumption, and the rest for sacrifice to the Blood God.

TheeBaconman: I regret to inform you that a cow doesn't successfully breed with females in pre-cloning times.  Not that there's anything wrong with anything that might happen behind a closed corral gate.

Heh reminds me of when I had 6 warrior followers in adventure mode and a two humped camel killed them all alone and walked away only a bit bruised.

Iracog, He Who Bears Many Scars, was a legendary regeneration-bugged water buffalo bull. This object menaced with spikes of embedded arrows. On this object was an image of the gates to the afterlife in water buffalo horn.

I pastured some animals outside as an early warning system for a Fortress Defense fort, expecting total animal annihilation once the sieges hit. Most were easy goblin and strangler bait, but Iracog was not like the others. While he possessed the mind of a normal water buffalo and would attempt to flee from invaders, his body could not die in battle. Remember this was Fortress Defense. Iracog survived outside for many seasons, fleeing from enemies and kicking them to death one by one as they approached from behind. His spine eventually broke, but this merely caused Iracog to spend less time running from enemies and more time kicking them in the head very, very hard. Every wound healed before he could bleed to death. It is speculated that this is caused by the RNG choosing healing rates on a bell curve, and Iracog was way out there on the curve leading to anomalous Highlander livestock.

Iracog was never properly killed. The overseer foolishly placed him inside, away from grass to munch and blood to drink, and Iracog starved to death in a meeting hall while waiting for his temple to be finished.

big, hooves and horns. Yup, I had quite a few adventurers gored by accidentally stepping next to a yak while trying to cross the mountains at high speed.
