More hidden stuff underground

I always enjoy finding caves and exploring them and I think it would be cool if you could find more random chambers underground with various stuff in them.

Such as? Treasure rooms guarded by cursed monsters? Civs of forgotten beasts bearing magical gear? Sieges of underground animalfolk with a few cotton candy/whatever weapons scattered amongst themselves? Bunnies?[url]

You should be more specific.

But the sad truth charlie?
It was inevitable.

We need cults for FBs, with dwarves, humans, and goblins, mostly animal people though. They would bear iron weapons, no armor, nude, and there weapons would have there respective FB's extract covering, if it bears none it would simply have poison. The FB would be friendly to them.

While I do love all the underground stuffs, I miss the old-style underground rivers and pools.

Somehow, that fills me more with dread than anticipation.  It's like being told that someone's exhuming your favorite grandparent and they're going to try to make her into a cyborg stripper.

I had ideas of stuff like hidden chambers with treasure but also... oil! Would be a barrel (excuse the pun) of fun!

Procedurally generated abandoned dwarf forts could be interesting; I haven't played Adventure mode, do "Deep Roads" exist?

Don't tell anyone that you can see their shadows. If they hear you telling anyone, if you let them know that you know of them, they will get you.

No.

You wouldn't be able to find them, anyway.  They would connect from non-existent mountainhome to non-existent mountainhome.

Actual cave rivers, perhaps caused by an aboveground river draining into the Underworld, would be neat. It might be a base camp for amphibian men or something who were raiding the surrounding area, and even if not, it would be neat to go there. Especially if your adventurer could swim down into the caverns hat way.

What about caves full of sickening gases that, when breached will find their way out to the atmoshpere, causing illness in dorfs that are exposed to the gases.

There should be cave bunnies at level 3. They're pretty much just ordinary bunnies mixed in with the blind cave horrors and the walking torso eaters and the evil noshit takers.

I suggest that everyone take a look at the Underground diversity thread, lest the wheel is reinvented a few times.

I'm going to mention more irregular mineral deposits and crystal formations (shape as well as size). The fact that one fortress can have all useful minerals in a neat package is too convenient (we'll need trade to make the lack enjoyable, of course). In addition, our new minecarts will be utterly useless for mining if the veins remain so short and restricted to only a single z-level.

If we're talking about past ideas, I was once advocating for player-designable (through raw or simply saving and exporting) "landmarks" and features that could become part of the worldgen map.  So, you could create a "lost civilization's ruins" in your game, and leave it buried in the caverns for another player to find.

If we have a large enough crowdsourced set of individual ruins that all get dumped into a giant community repository of landmarks, it would eventually actually be rare and unique when you find some of these.
