Okay, time to come clean.  I'm actually running a network of astroturf personalities on this very forum.  Everyone here is a sock puppet.

Except for you.
Called it.
Of course you would. You're one of them.

Times like these are when you're glad the hypnotoad is only a myth.

He's an escaped lunatic!  Don't trust him!
No no, if he were really one of the Machines he would already have 10,000 posts, a blog, and (fake) pictures of himself tweeting on his iphone.

That's what We want you to think.

Don't you know you guys?! This is all a trick by the robots to make us question whether humans are real or not! The real enemy are the robots who've learned this psychological mind trick...

Or maybe it isn't... Oh noes!

EDIT:Actually read the article and it turns out that the governments and corporations are the ones who seem to be gaining self awareness... in short we are so doomed.

We should all join the air force to combat this threat!

I guess the easiest course of action would be to judge things based on the strength of argument behind them rather than the number of people who are apparently in support of something.  That way astroturfing will have far less effect (although of course they could drown out arguments for the other side with sheer volume).  In particular don't give extra weight to groups who claim to be grassroots.
