It's not everyone, I think it only happens when someone was "alive" before Year 1 or whatever.

Just did this. The Hardy Sling is indeed a Dwarven civ. Interestingly, it looks like there were Goblins in the Complex Sword (The guys the Goblin King is, well, king of) back in 229. They were fighting along Dwarves against other Goblins.

Right now, I've got him in a "pasture" overlooking the first cavern; complete with glass windows so he can see all the friendly cave crocs. I might "accidentally" punt him out so he can go exploring at some point...

My queen is also a goblin, so it seems to be "quite" common.

On a related note, a human diplomat just showed up.
He is a law-giver of their civilization and a reptile man.
And a vampire wearing mostly human bone/nail/teeth "jewelry".
