What about gay dwarves? That would surely reduce the amount of babies.

Unfortunately the answer here may be similar to the answer for the cats, I doubt gay dorfs are going to do a lot for reducing reproduction in DF world as it stands.  Strict gender controls, which is a bit sickening to me I admit when applied to my actual dwarves.  Or, let in more kobolds.  It seems in my old forts I couldn't keep a baby around if I had a kobold leak.

Kobolds stab them in the head with 100% accuracy, I think you're thinking about goblins

Do we currently get gay dwarves? Not sure if thats a bit controversial or could lead to probulems in the bay12 community (we are more than a little prone to genocide). I'm gay and it dosen't bother me either way weather or not sexuality is implemented, but I guess it would add to realism. I imagine it's just something Toady would want to stay away from.

On a related note, can dwarves choose to be asexual and never get married or will they enevitably get married if given enough time to socialise?

In all seriousness, nah I don't see it ever being a problem up for discussion, in regards to the implementation of it, adding something on the grounds of "realism" and realism alone don't make for a sound argument.

Take it a step further: sex change potions/booze/food/shrooms. Modders have already figured out how to do it in the raws.
