The Age of The Rain?
« on: April 09, 2012, 04:18:46 pm »

I was just generating a world, and it stopped on year 125 at "The Age of The Rain". Is this normal? What causes it?

As for mods, I'm only using ones that I made.
Added 4 castes to dwarves, and I made elves and goblins opposed to life.

It's that worlds equivalent of the apocalypse! The Rain is a torrent, a deluge so large and vicious it will fill up all available land like a bowl and will drown the entire continent!

I advise building plenty of pumps.

I went to Legends and typed "The Rain" in. All that appeared under Historical Figures was some hill titan, nicknamed "The Rain of Blossoms".

EDIT: I went to look at the history of that era. That Hill Titan is indeed the cause of this age. :P

I think I'll go on Adventure mode, find, and kill this titan.

Dwarves passing by get good thoughts from the mist of water and exploding felines.
Anyone of the equivalent to the royal bloodline in a nomadic group would have a sun tattooed on their hand, or a scrotum on their forehead (it's a little-known fact that fraternities are based off of long-forgotten tribes).

I had "The Age Of Aufoagaafhgadqejsjsjha The Barbarian" and was really excited, until I checked legends and saw it was something like "Hillpunches the Barbarian of Trails, Titan". Are first I thought it was an actual barbarian/bandit group leader or something.

I think it's the way towns develop now. In the beginning, people move into a town. Then they start producing tables, which results in more and more tables. Soon tables represent a significant portion of the population, they start lobbying for new laws and regulations, putting people to greater and greater disadvantage...
Link for full quote. 'tis mighty funny.

It could be some horrible samurai-armor-wearing abomination straight from the cherry orchards of Japan, that causes it to rain neon-pink cherry blossoms all across the land for kilometers in every direction of it's location, terrifying the populace beyond belief, as they surely don't want their village to be it's next target.

Is that possible? Can you even get a civilized historical figure as a Age?

If you count werebeasts, at least. I once had an age in a pocket world named after a cyclops and a werebeast.

It is said knowledge is like a foul-smelling herb. It must be cooked well and thoroughly with experience to make it palatable. A young scholar's knowledge is therefore not only worthless but disgusting. -- In Dwarf Fortress you have another paradigm. Gather as much of that smelly herb as you can and toss it at your enemy, fracturing his skull through the +capybara man leather cap+.

Good point, but not one that invalidates the inevitable kill-order. :P
