What to do with Animal/Insect Men
« on: April 09, 2012, 02:29:18 pm »

My cage traps have recently garnered me two Grasshopper Women,  I wanna get rid of them but the game doesn't let you manually remove them from the cages anymore.    And since they can't be trained as sla... er Indentured Servants without the help of Utilities.  What else can I do with these creepy insect women?

I've only ever had animal men a few times strangely. Last time I had batpeople who had turned friendly thanks to killing FB's. I trapped them all then realised them into a giant marble temple filled with statues of silver and magma fountains encased behind clear glass. Eventually they died from infection of previous injuries but i like to think they enjoyed their reward for defending the fort.

If adamantine is perfectly rigid, as shown by having 0 strain at fracture in the raw files, then the speed of sound in the metal approaches the speed of light. Adamantine musical instruments would produce ultrasonic vibrations, and cut off the fingers of the musician.

(b), (j), (x) to find the right cage, build it. You can move other creatures sometimes to it without incident. Build a lever and link it to it and release them by pulling the lever. Either let em go free, or let your military practice on them.

If you want to let them go, make a pasture zone outside and pasture them there, then delete the zone. Personally, I've gotten so annoyed with animal men gumming up my traps that I kill them every chance I get in the hopes I will cause them to go locally extinct.

Mod them out of the game.  :'(

Imagine the will it took to create a fortress like this. And what have you elves built? Nothing. You can only loot and break. You're not dwarves!! You're just termites at Versailles.

It's not that I don't suffer, it's that I know the unimportance of suffering, I know that pain is to be fought and thrown aside, not to be accepted as part of one's soul and as a permanent scar across one's view of existence.

They are bland and annoying, and without modding not a resource either.

i've heard rumors that when dropped from a sufficient height to make their carcass explode on impact, you can use their bones for crafts/bolts/etc and their skin for leather. also, in the event that they have shells, you're supposed to be able to use the shells as well. haven't had a chance to test that yet though.

alternately, there's also the ever-popular plan of dropping them a shorter distance, crippling them, and letting your military train on them (if they fly so that you can't drop them, that just means you should release them in a sealed room that has fortifications and trainee marksdwarves behind the fortifications).

This is true, my army enjoys +Dwarf Leather Armor+ regularly.

Ohohohohoho it's not rumours, and if you haven't caused children to explode on impact you're missing out!

You can mod in so that your dwarves can eat them after world creation (I think). Enjoy your 200 stack of forgotten beast meat
